WFAA reported:

A man shot himself inside Bush Intercontinental Airport in north Houston early Thursday afternoon, the Houston Police Department confirmed with KHOU 11 News.

HPD told KHOU 11 the shooting was self-inflicted and happened in a security checkpoint in Terminal B. It is unclear whether the man is still alive.

The suspect walked into the security checkpoint area inside Terminal B and fired at least two shots into the air, according to an HPD spokesperson.

An air marshal fired at the suspect, but missed. The man then pulled out a pistol and shot himself, according to an HPD captain.

FOX News reported that shooter was reportedly wearing an elf costume.

Houston KRIV reported that one man died in the shooting.

UPDATE: FOX clarifies – “self-inflicted” wounds – not “elf-inflicted.”
