Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen

50,000,000 people share the densely populated Hong Kong region in China. 50 million of the 1 billion citizens of China. This past week I visited Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macau, Kowloon and the New Territories.

One day we took a helicopter ride from Hong Kong to Macau, a former Portugese colony on the mainland.

I took this from the chopper over Hong Kong.

The helicopter took 20 minutes to cross the waters to Macau, the Las Vegas of the East. It took about that long for the casinos to take our money. But, it was a great ride.

Several Vegas big names have casinos in Macau.

Hong Kong puts on a laser light show every night. It is spectacular. it is even better when you sit across the bay and watch it from Kowloon.

On Sunday we went up the tallest skyscraper in Shenzhen.

They were actually holding an open house in the building, the third tallest in China. What a view, huh? In the 1970’s Shenzhen was just a village. Now it is a city of over 10 million residents.

I took this photo from the top of Victoria Peak above Hong Kong.

I had a wonderful time with my twin brother in Hong Kong. It is a beautiful, vibrant region.

Since I was sitting for a few hours in Tokyo I decided to put these pictures up for you. I also want to thank all of the terrific writers who took over while I was away. I hope to resume blogging on Tuesday.
