A small group of Occupy Wall Street protesters assembled at the front of the line of Macy’s Herald Square on Thursday night.
“We’re here to let people know about corporate greed, and Macy’s is a major corporate place,” said a protester who gave her name as Jennifer. She then said they were also trying to spread awareness about sweat shop labor, but declined to name specific issues with Macy’s policies.
Another person in the group said he hoped to show his dissent and would be happy if they turned away at least one shopper.
The group then broke into a chant, which was swiftly broken up by police officers who said they couldn’t block the entrance. “OK, we’ll walk back and forth and chant,” said Jennifer.
