A Metro East library and community center was sold to local man who is expected to lease it to the owners of a strip club.
KSDK reported:
An old building that was once a topless bar has for more than a decade served as a library, community center and a point of pride for its neighbors in Washington Park.
Now it may be about to relive its history and many residents of the Metro East community aren’t happy.
Village leaders sold the building last month to a local man who is expected to lease it to the owners of a strip club that burned down late last year.
Local leaders say the building is old and unsafe.
Neighbors like Shantell Stewart say they don’t want the building to become a bar.
The building was a topless bar in the 1990s until it was seized by the federal government and given to the community.
