Governor Haley Barbour said on FOX News that at $2 million a day, in 64 years this bill ought to be whittled down to a reasonable stimulus plan.
Meanwhile, Forget hope and change… It’s all about fearmongering.
Barack Obama said that action on the stimulus plan must take place RIGHT NOW or we are doomed, and may never recover:
“This recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse.”
UPDATE: Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) is crying that bike paths were nixed from the “job stimulus” bill.
Unbelievable.
This confirms that this bill is just a gift list for democrats and their supporters and projects.
UPDATE 2: Good news for democrats!
Senator Carl Levin of Michigan, told reporters he and others hoped that some of the funds on the chopping block would be restored next week when negotiations open on a House-Senate compromise.
