Obama's Latest Ad Shows His Penchant to "Change" & "Hope" No One Notices

More hope and change…
In Barack Obama’s first general election ad he claimed that passed laws that… “extended healthcare for wounded troops that had been neglected.” (Public Law 110-181)
But, in reality… he didn’t even show up to vote on the bill.

So, you’d think he’d be more careful in his second ad.
Nope.

US News and World Report reported on Barack Obama’s second television ad that was released this week:

Sen. Barack Obama’s effort to define himself in 18 battleground states took a new turn today when he started airing an ad titled “Dignity,” which heralds his limited legislative experience as a boon to middle Americans. According to the campaign, “the spot highlights Senator Obama’s decision to bypass big money jobs and help lift neighborhoods stung by job loss. The ad illustrates Senator Obama’s record of working hard to move people from welfare to work, passing tax cuts for workers, and providing healthcare for children.” It airs in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Virginia.

Here is that ad:

In his new ad Obama praises welfare reform, yet he opposed the legislation when a Republican Congress passed the law and President Clinton signed it.

The Washington Post reported on Obama’s record on welfare reform:

Obama sponsored or co-sponsored — but did not “pass” — the welfare and tax measures but does not mention that these were in the Illinois legislature in 1997 and 2000. He sponsored congressional measures that helped hospitalized veterans, but in a relatively minor way: extending beyond 90 days the period in which they can receive free meals and free phone calls to family members.

Obama said this about the welfare reform legislation at this time:

“I am not a defender of the status quo with respect to welfare. Having said that, I probably would not have supported the federal legislation, because I think it had some problems.”

Change?
