McClatchy Newspapers Report: "There Is No Al-Qaeda in Iraq"

UNBELIEVABLE!
Just when you thought that the mainstream media had hit rock bottom…
McClatchy Newspapers reported today that there is no Al-Qaeda in Iraq…

And… That when George Bush “tried” to tie Al-Qaeda to terror attacks in Iraq as he did in July 2007, he was being dishonest!

90% of Suicide Bombers in Iraq Are Foreign Born. Over 90% of suicide bombers are foreign terrorists, and these high profile attacks account for a large majority of the Iraqi losses inflicted by al-Qaeda. (MNF-Iraq)

Obviously, the military has been lying to us these past 5 years, too, according to McClatchy.

An article by McClatchy reporter Warren P. Strobel shared this stunning news with America and our soldiers fighting some obscure terror group in the Middle East:

An exhaustive review of more than 600,000 Iraqi documents that were captured after the 2003 U.S. invasion has found no evidence that Saddam Hussein’s regime had any operational links with Osama bin Laden’s al Qaida terrorist network.

The Pentagon-sponsored study, scheduled for release later this week, did confirm that Saddam’s regime provided some support to other terrorist groups, particularly in the Middle East , U.S. officials told McClatchy . However, his security services were directed primarily against Iraqi exiles, Shiite Muslims, Kurds and others he considered enemies of his regime.

…As recently as last July, Bush tried to tie al Qaida to the ongoing violence in Iraq. “The same people that attacked us on September the 11th is a crowd that is now bombing people, killing innocent men, women and children, many of whom are Muslims,” he said.

But, now we know that this statement by Bush was not true. According to McClatchy newspapers this was just another untruth by Bush.

How do you suppose McClatchy will explain this:

This map captured from from an al Qaeda media center near Samarra, Iraq, was used in a Multi-National Force Iraq press briefing on July 11, 2007. It represents AQI’s view of the areas it claimed to control in Iraq in early March. It also asserts AQI dominated much of Anbar and northern Iraq, which by any measure was clearly not the truth.

This may be the most irresponsible report on the War in Iraq to date.
Obviously, it is up there with the best of them.
It is shocking. It is irresponsible. It is inaccurate.

Please take a minute and demand McClatchy make a correction on this very inaccurate report.

UPDATE: Apparently, there are still those who believe that Al-Qaeda is not operating in Iraq- Nuts.

UPDATE 2: The Clintons, of course, first linked Al-Qaeda to Saddam Hussein.

UPDATE 3: ABC News video shows Bin Laden’s links to Saddam Hussein.
Hat Tip M. Moseley

UPDATE 4: The report DOES include Saddam’s links with Al-Qaeda groups.
