A Pakistani man murdered his mother in an apparent honor killing in Maral Village.

LAHORE: A man on Thursday killed his mother with the collaboration of his accomplice because he suspected her of illicit relations in the city’s far-flung Manawan area, the police officials told Daily Times.
Jamila (40) got divorced several years earlier and was living in Maral village along with her five daughters and two sons, the police said. “Rafaqat, her elder son, suspected that his mother had illicit relations with a man in their neighbourhood,” the police said. The police said Rafaqat had exchanged harsh words with his mother several times. On Wednesday evening, the police said, she (Jamila) left home.
The police said later, Shehbaz, Rafaqat’s friend, informed Rafaqat that his mother was at a neighbour’s house. When Jamila returned on Thursday, the police said, Rafaqat killed her by shooting in head. The police said on hearing shots other family members rushed and nabbed Rafaqat and Shehbaz. A police team reached the scene and arrested both culprits.
Manawan police sub inspector Tahir Mehmood said the police had arrested both culprits after lodging a case (393/2007) on the complaint of one Muhammad Javed. He said according to the evidence provided to the police it was a murder in the name of honour.
