It wasn’t that long ago…
Back on November 28, 2006, Speaker Pelosi chastised the president for claiming that Al Qaeda was fomenting violence in Iraq:
“My thoughts on the president’s representations are well-known,” Pelosi said. “The 9/11 Commission dismissed that notion a long time ago and I feel sad that the president is resorting to it again.”
(The 9-11 report never said such a thing about Al Qaeda fomenting violence in Iraq, by the way.)
HotAir captured the video. Here is a condensed clip of the remarks by the Speaker:
This weekend Al Qaeda in Iraq killed at least 5 US soldiers and kidnapped another 3 US soldiers near Mahmoudiya.
It was also announced that Al Qaeda in Iraq is going to take over the Sunni heartland of Iraq and turn it into a militant Islamic state once American troops have withdrawn.
In a separate statement… Al Qaeda in Iraq said it would “remain a thorn in Bush’s gorge.”
And… Al Qaeda in Iraq announced that its pressure campaign on Bush is going to coincide with the pressures from the Democrats.
Can we expect a another statement by the Speaker?
