Wood Lawn Marine to be Honored
Wood Lawn, IL is making plans to honor Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan Kyle Price, 19, assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, who was killed during combat Friday, January 13, 2006, in Ramadi, Iraq.
The Westboro Baptist Church is planning on protesting at this marine’s funeral.
If I here more about the timing of the procession I will post it:
Tentative plans are for the caravan from Lambert to be escorted into Illinois and then through Price’s hometown.
“We are planning for them to get off at the Woodlawn exit, drive through Woodlawn and then into Mt. Vernon on Route 15,” he said. “Those are the wishes of the family, and plans are being formed to line those streets. We appreciate anything to get the word out.”
Price was the first soldier from Jefferson County to die in the war in Iraq.
Jefferson County Sheriff Roger Mulch said that he and his officers are ready to provide an escort from Lambert Airport into Mt. Vernon and are awaiting further details on Price’s arrival.
“Our plans right now are to keep everything secure for the family and for Kyle, and help in any way we can to honor Kyle,” Mulch said.
The sheriff said he believed memorial plans currently were to hold a service at either Woodlawn Christian Church or Woodlawn High School.
