Detroit Radio Station Bans Kanye West’s Music Over His Support of President Trump

Detroit radio station 105.1 The Bounce has banned Kanye West’s music over his support for President Donald Trump.

In a Facebook post explaining their decision, two morning show hosts from the station said that they are “taking a stand” and “refusing to give him a platform.”

“We feel like Kanye has gone too far with his latest statement declaring that ‘slavery was a choice.’ We are over it. We don’t want to hear Kanye’s music, we don’t want to play Kanye on our show, we don’t want to talk about Kanye anymore. So we are taking a stand and we aren’t playing his music anymore; we just are refusing to give him a platform,” the post stated. It was signed by BiGG & Shay Shay from the Morning Bounce.

West has explained that his comments were referring to slavery of the mind, not actual forced servitude.

The post also included the hashtag #MuteKanye, a campaign from the left to silence the rapper over his political beliefs.

The station has not commented on whether or not they will also be banning R. Kelly — or if only right-wing ideas, and not criminal actions, are a problem for them.
