WAYNE ALLYN ROOT: Sexual McCarthyism

By Wayne Allyn Root

“The Special Counselor is sex obsessed. You can’t impeach a president over his private sex life. Having affairs isn’t a crime. The American people don’t care. The prosecutor is over-reaching. The American people elected our president based on his politics, not his personal life. They don’t care about his sex life. This is ‘Sexual McCarthyism.’ The special prosecutor is a ‘sex pervert.’ He is jealous of the president. This is a political and sexual witch-hunt.”

Yes, these charges all apply to Robert Mueller. But I’ve heard all of this before. Every charge above came direct from the liberal playbook defending President Bill Clinton from the Ken Starr investigation. I was there. I’m a witness. Every liberal friend and colleague I knew back in 1998 used these exact words. They all called Ken Starr a “sex pervert” and branded his investigation of Bill Clinton “a sexual witch-hunt based on partisan politics.”

But it wasn’t just average everyday liberals who cried “sex pervert.” It was liberal celebrities and high-profile Democrat politicians too. I know. I was a regular guest on Bill Maher’s “Politically Incorrect” on ABC TV back in the late 1990’s. I debated about the Bill Clinton-Ken Starr investigation nonstop. Liberal celebs called Ken Starr a “sex pervert.” They said he had no right to “politicize our president’s sex life and make it into an impeachable crime.”

But wait, it gets better. “The Village Voice” was New York City’s famous newspaper for the liberal gay community. Their headline in 1998 about the Ken Starr investigation was “Sexual McCarthyism.” So, liberals in 1998 compared an investigation into a president’s sex life by a special prosecutor, to the Senator McCarthy witch-hunt of the 1950’s.

Now let’s compare Bill Clinton’s sex scandal with President Trump’s. Clinton’s scandal was the people’s business. It was worthy of an investigation. Clinton had sex while being paid by taxpayers, while in the White House. Clinton had sex with a White House intern, in the oval office. Then he lied about it under oath. He did commit crimes. Clinton’s sex with an intern would today be called “sexual assault.” The liberal feminist #metoo movement would demand impeachment. Ken Starr’s investigation was certainly warranted.

Today Robert Mueller has turned an investigation of “Russian Collusion” that never happened into a sexual witch-hunt. This truly is “Sexual McCarthyism.” Mueller has even destroyed attorney-client privilege with a raid on Trump’s lawyer’s office, home and hotel suite to investigate possible affairs with Stormy Daniels and Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, and Trump’s “Access Hollywood” videotape. My math says his investigation is about sex, sex and sex. This is now a “Triple X” investigation.

Unlike Clinton, all three incidents happened to a private citizen Trump, before he was president. The sex was consensual. None of this involves the American people. It may be Melania’s business, but it’s not yours or mine, or Robert Mueller’s.

Yes, in a few rare instances attorney-client privilege has been broken in the history of America. Maybe for a mob lawyer protecting a mass murderer…or a lawyer hiding evidence on behalf of a billionaire drug trafficker…or a terrorism case.

But never before in American legal history has a lawyer been raided by the federal government on the basis of sex affairs, minor FEC infractions, or a videotape of a private citizen bragging to a TV host about sex with beautiful women.

This is absurd. This is CHILLING. This is Soviet Gulag tactics. This is criminal. I’m talking about Robert Mueller.

The system is rigged. If this attack on attorney-client privilege stands, none of us can trust our attorney ever again. If the government can raid my lawyer over minor infractions and read my confidential privileged conversations with my lawyer, and try to pressure my lawyer to turn against me (for any reason) then America is lost. The Judicial System is gone. We are all finished. If politics and sex can be used as weapons by a Special Counselor, and the ACLU and Bar Association say nothing, we are a Banana Republic. Stalin would be proud.

We can all debate whether the Bill Clinton investigation was justified. Whether Ken Starr over-reached. But today, there is no debate. Mueller’s investigation is a travesty. If liberals called Ken Starr a “sex pervert” what dopes that make Mueller? He is over-reaching. The American people won’t stand for this. Mueller’s approval ratings are plunging. For good reason…

This truly is “Sexual McCarthyism.”
