CNN Host Grills UCLA Basketball Player’s Father For Disrespecting POTUS Trump In Off the Wall Interview (VIDEO)

On Monday evening, CNN host Chris Cuomo grilled Lavar Ball, the father of UCLA basketball player LiAngelo Ball for dismissing President Trump’s role in securing his son’s release from China.

Ball told Cuomo that he did more to get his son out of jail than President Trump.

“I helped my son get out of [China]…I had some people that had boots on the ground that knew the situation!”

Uproxx reports:

LaVar Ball took his feud with Donald Trump to another level on Monday night, as the founder of Big Baller Brand appeared on CNN. The much-anticipated interview came one day after the president tweeted about Ball’s comments regarding Trump’s involvement in getting three UCLA basketball players who were detained in China back to the United States.

Among the three players who were arrested for shoplifting was Ball’s middle son, LiAngelo. Trump tweeted that he wanted the players to thank him for speaking to Chinese president Xi Jinping about their status, and all three obliged upon returning stateside.

LaVar Ball was not as eager to thank Trump, however, as he responded to a question about the leader of the free world’s involvement by saying “Who? What was he over there for? Don’t tell me nothing. Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.”

“I don’t have to go around saying thank you to everybody.” Ball told CNN.

“He didn’t call me, I didn’t shake his hand. He didn’t have to say that. I have to know what somebody’s doing before I say thank you. I’m just not going to go around saying thank you. Now if you come shake my hand and meet me or meet my son or anybody and then say ‘Ok, you know what? Maybe I can help you out.’ Let’s do it that way,” added Ball.

Over the weekend, President Trump unloaded on LaVar Ball, the father of UCLA basketball LiAngelo Ball, for dismissing his role in getting his son released from China after being arrested for shoplifting.

“Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal. I should have left them in jail!,” tweeted President Trump.

Last week, LaVar Ball has this to say after a reporter asked him his thoughts on President Trump’s role in getting his son out of hot water:

“Who?” LaVar Ball told ESPN Friday. “What was he over there for? Don’t tell me nothing. Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out.”

[…]Lavar Ball’s eldest son, Lonzo Ball, was picked second overall in last June’s NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

The trio of UCLA players were detained in China on Nov. 7 after they were accused of shoplifting from three stores.

UCLA basketball players LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley were arrested for shoplifting sunglasses during a trip to Shanghai for a game against Georgia Tech. President Trump tweeted Wednesday that the players were facing 10 years in prison, despite earlier reports that they would serve 20 days under house arrest.
