BREAKING: Active Shooting Suspect in Custody in Downtown Reno

Nevada – Police took an active shooter into custody in downtown Reno Tuesday evening.

A hostage was taken and is now safe according to police.

Kolotv reported:

 Police have taken into custody the suspect in an active shooter situation at the Montage condominium complex in downtown Reno at 255 N Sierra Street.

Police have closed 2nd Street and Commercial Avenue and surrounding areas.

Police say the shooter was barricaded inside the Montage with a hostage, whom police say is safe, but no word on a medical condition has been released. It’s not clear what the relationship is between the suspect and the hostage.

Shots were fired by the suspect within the unit. Police shot at the shooter, who is alive. The Officer-Involved Shooting Protocol is being enacted; it’s not clear what agency will lead the investigation.
