Democrat Running for Minneapolis Mayor – Raymond Dehn – Proposes ‘Disarming’ Police of Firearms

Rep. Raymond Dehn is running for the mayoral position in the city of Minneapolis and decided to go full liberal idiot in his bid for the city’s top spot by proposing to take away guns from the majority of police officers in the city.

Dehn is one of a handful running against current Mayor Betsy Hodges in the fall.

Dehn, who won support from voters at the Democratic Farmer Labor convention, is calling for police to disarm and remove their sidearms.

“I’m not saying they don’t have access to that, just like they have access to more lethal weapons in their cars, I would believe they would still have access to their guns in their cars.”

Dehn feels there must be “drastic” changes related to how officers are trained and says he would be open to seeing officers use other means to protect themselves, like using night sticks and pepper spray – if you run up against a perpetrator with a gun, a night stick and pepper spray are only going to add insult to the inevitable injury the officer will incur.

Rather than encouraging citizens to behave properly and follow the law, Dehn feels we should change policing altogether:

“I think as we look at how to change policing and how we get officers to not react to use their gun in situations, but learning skills around de-escalation training I think are important.”

The current Mayor, however; uses logic in her statements:

“If we are going to talk about changes in gun policy, we shouldn’t start with police officers who are going to be operating in a world with people who have guns.”

Well put.

Watch Dehn sound like a fool below:
