Russia Vows to Target US Jets After Syrian Aircraft Shot Down

US forces shot down a Syrian regime aircraft on Sunday. This marked the first time US forces shot down a Syrian jet over Syria.

US forces said the Syrian aircraft was shot down by a F/A-18E Super Hornet in a “show of force” after the Syrian fighter bombed an area near a group of Syrian Democratic Forces.

The US shot the SU-22 jet down over Raqqa – the ISIS capital in Syria.

In response the Russian military vowed to track US aircraft and UAVs west of the Euphrates River.

The Russian Ministry of Defense released a statement on Facebook early Monday morning.
