President Donald Trump scolded NATO members for not meeting their financial commitments during a brief speech today with European leaders.
Trump wants member nations to pay their fair share.
President Trump: Members of the alliance must finally contribute their fair share and meet their financial obligations. Twenty-three of the 28 member nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they are supposed to be paying for their defense. This is not fair to the people and taxpayers of the United States.”
The cameras panned to French President Emmanuel Macron during Trump’s request for NATO members to honor their commitments.
Macron was snickering.
Most American voters don’t think it’s so funny.
