In a rather humorous turn of events, the Kremlin is beginning an investigation into whether U.S. media outlets illegally influenced Russia’s 2016 parliamentary elections.
Leftist and Democrat propaganda outlet CNN, Voice of America, and Radio Free Europe are among the outlets being investigated.
“The structures we are discussing are part of a larger American system of pressure on our country. They are using a variety of instruments in respect to both the Russian electoral process and on our country as a whole,” Levin said Tuesday at a State Duma committee meeting, according to the Moscow newspaper.
Levin also asserted that reps from CNN and Voice of America refused to appear in front of the committee and that they would not respond to proposals. Voice of America and Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe are both financed by the U.S. and are broadcast internationally.
