$110,000 Raised In 2 Days
The horrifying attack that was streamed live on Facebook last week received cries of outrage from around the world. The disabled 18-year-old teen was tied up, beaten, and tortured over the course of several hours. He forced to say “Fuck white people,” and, “Fuck Donald Trump,” in the video. The attackers also cut the victim several times and forced him to drink toilet water.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the victim which is called “Let’s show the Chicago victim love”. Initially the goal for the campaign was to raise $10,000 for the victim but in just 2 days it raised over $110,000.
Bartlett Jackson, GoFundMe’s regional communications manager, confirmed to the AP the account is genuine and that it is working directly with the victim’s family.
The page says the victim has been “amazed to see all the support and prayers he is receiving.”
