Milo Yiannopoulos recently spoke at the University Of Oregon in Eugene. Several reporters were at the event, but no one from the Portland based Oregonian, the largest newspaper in the state. Still, one of their writers, Eder Campuzano, did a write up on the event. His story was literally based on tweets sent out by students from the college’s newspaper, The Daily Emerald. His headline? “Milo Yiannopoulos at the University of Oregon: ‘I don’t want any Muslims in the country’“.
There’s just one problem: Campuzano never explains why Mr. Yiannopoulos said that. Such facts were conveniently omitted from the story.
Yiannopoulos explained that he feels that way because a recent poll showed that 52% of Muslims in Britain wanted to outlaw homosexuality, to which Milo says “This is a direct assault on who and what I am. And this is people who live on the street next to me. They believe that my sexuality should be against the law. Progressives have nothing to say about that.”
Yiannopoulos goes on to say that this same survey shows that 39% of these so called “moderate” Muslims think that women should always obey their husband. “Feminists have nothing to say about that.”
I happened across Mr. Campuzano shortly after that event happened and his article came out on the Oregonian website. I decided to ask him why he left out this key piece of information. He immediately deflected the question and instead started talking about Christians who want to ban gay marriage, and he didn’t think including the reason why Mr. Yiannopoulos said what he said was relevant to the story.
