Newsweek ‘Senior Writer’ Calls Ted Cruz and His Iowa Supporters Nazis

Alexander Nazaryan, a Senior Writer for Newsweek, posted a picture to Twitter overnight of Nazis marching under Swastika flags to illustrate his statement that Republican presidential candidate “Ted Cruz has a strong ground game in Iowa.”

Nazaryan deleted the tweet, however it was captured and reposted by @CuffyMeh.

Wednesday morning, Nazaryan noted he had deleted the tweet:



“I deleted my tweet calling Ted Cruz a Nazi. Not fair to his totally decent supporters, as much as I dislike the man himself.”

Nazaryan’s home page at Newsweek contains a brief professional bio:

“Alexander Nazaryan is a senior writer at Newsweek. He was previously on the editorial board of the New York Daily News, where he also founded and edited the Page Views book and culture blog. He has a B.A. in English Literature from Dartmouth.”
