Back in September Mayor Francis Slay eagerly announced that St. Louis would be participating in President Obama’s initiative to relocate “refugees” from the Syrian civil war to the United States.
Since he’s beholden to the Obama administration, on Monday Mayor Slay said he won’t be joining the growing number of American leaders who have declined to accept Syrian “refugees.”
Slay made the statement even after the weekend revelation that at least one of the Paris terrorsts was a Syrian refugee.
Mayor Slay still wants to bring Syrian refugees to St. Louis.
Slay made the announcement on his official twitter feed Monday evening:
I have asked my staff to reassure all of our partners that the City will welcome refugees from Syria's violence. #fgs
