St. Louis Man Shot Dead Near End of Anti-Violence March and Rally
More than 500 mothers and supporters marched earlier in the day at Rauschenbach Park where they hosted a fair including “bounce houses” for kids and a dinner.
At least 127 people have been shot in St. Louis this year – predominantly in minority districts.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported:
A man was found fatally shot near a St. Louis park Saturday night, hours after a “Stop the Violence” march ended at the park.
The man was found shot in the head and torso at 21st Street and St. Louis Avenue, near Rauschenbach Park, shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Earlier in the day, several hundred people marched from Fairgrounds Park to Rauschenbach Park ito draw attention to killings throughout the city and call for an end to the violence. Family members of murder victims were among those who marched.
The death of the man found Saturday night is at least the 127th homicide in St. Louis this year.
