A gunman shot dead eight people at a Czech restaurant today in Uhersky Brod.
Local officials say the gunman was a deranged individual.

The Journal reported:
NINE PEOPLE ARE reported as dead following a fatal shooting in the Czech Republic town of Uhersky Brod.
The town is around 300 kilometres south west of Prague.
The Czech interior minister Milan Chovanec has confirmed the number of fatalities.
“According to our information, there are nine dead on the spot,” Czech television channel Ceska Televize (CT) said.
Police spokesman Pavel Benedikt Stransky refused to confirm the information but said the gunman “has already been subdued”.
The mayor of Uhersky Brod, Patrik Kuncar said the shooter was a “madman”, local media says.
