University Chancellor Promotes “Religion Is Important To Democracy”; Atheists Demand Apology (Video)

The importance of religion to the American Republic form of government is an obvious fact pointed out by numerous Founding Fathers.

But the realization that our democracy is only suited for a “moral and virtuous” citizenry seems to cause a reaction in Atheists akin to a vampire after it is exposed to sun light.

Case in point.

The Independent reports that when Alabama University Chancellor, Jack Hawkins, sent out a video to students and professors in his end of year message pointing out the importance of religion to democracy, Atheists’ heads began to explode:

“Jack Hawkins, the chancellor of Alabama’s Troy University, sent his students and staff a video about “religious freedom” as part of an end-of-year message, AL.com reported.

But American Atheists, a group that campaigns for the absolute separation of government and religion, criticised Hawkins for implying that those who do not believe in God cannot be “moral, law-abiding citizens”.

“In the 90-second clip Clay Christensen, a professor at Harvard Business School, details a conversation he had with a Marxist economist from China, in which the other man said democracy works because people believe that “they aren’t just accountable to society, they’re accountable to God”.

“Christensen then asks: “As religion loses its influence over the lives of Americans what will happen to our democracy?

“Where are the institutions that are going to teach the next generation of Americans that they, too, need to voluntarily choose to obey the laws. Because if you take away religion you can’t hire enough police.”

The continued decline in Church attendance in America is indeed a troubling statistic. Because in order to see the results of an Atheist society one only has to glance at modern history and take note of the many Progressive heroes who did their best to “hire enough police”. Their names were: Mao, Stalin, Marx, Che Guevara, and Castro…just to name a few.
