One man was injured today when a Drano bomb blew up after he picked it up.
Six bombs were planted in Wentzville, Missouri including one at the Wentzville police station.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported:
The Wentzville Police Department has put out an alert warning residents about liquid bombs being placed around the community.
Wentzville Police Maj. Paul West said at least six of the makeshift soda bottle bombs with Drano and tin foil inside exploded between 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday in various spots, including the Bear creek subdivision and in front of the police department.
He said one resident picked up a device and it burst on him. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
The mixture of Drano and tin foil creates gas that builds up and detonates. The amount of force generated by the explosion is enough to sever fingers and deliver second- and third-degree chemical burns to victims, according to a Wentzville Police Department alert.
