Breaking: Malaysian Air Passenger Jet “Shot Down” by Buk Missile in Ukraine – 295 on Board (Video)

A Malaysian Air passenger jet crashed in Ukraine today.
There were 295 passengers on board the flight.

Sky News is reporting the plane was “shot down.”

** The plane was shot down by a Buk ground-to-air missile, a Ukrainian interior ministry official, quoted by Interfax news agency said.

British news network Sky and Russian news agency Interfax are reporting that a Malaysian Airlines flight operating from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has crashed with 295 passengers on board. The tail number is reported to be 9M-MRD. The flight was operating as flight 17. The plane, a Boeing 777-200ER, was delivered to Malaysia Airlines in 1997.

There are reports that Russia has been supplying rebel groups with surface-to-air missiles.

UPDATE: Militants in Donetsk, Ukraine shot down the plane near Shakhtarsk.

UPDATE: Pro-Russian separatists claim they shot down the plane.
