An Oakland Muslim and mother was arrested this week for beating a 9 year-old in a school bathroom with a hammer.

A mother was arrested Friday for allegedly attacking a 9-year-old girl with a hammer in an elementary school bathroom in Oakland, Calif., according to officials.
Haseemah Diame faced an assault with a deadly weapon charge after allegedly attacking the third-grader at Lafayette Elementary School, KPIX reported.
“She was able to lure this other girl away from the play yard during recess into an adjacent bathroom there by the school. Once in the bathroom, Diame proceeded to assault the girl with a hammer,” school District Spokesman Troy Flint said.
Diame was a volunteer at the school and parent of another student.
The reason for the attack remained “speculative,” but may been the result of a disagreement with another family, Flint said.
“It may have something to do with rivalries and feuds that occur off campus spilling over onto the site,” Flint told KXVU.
A teacher and school security guard discovered the assault when they checked the bathroom for a student, KPIX reported.
The girl had serious injuries and was hospitalized, KPIX reported.
