Dancer Susan Stone from St. Louis was kicked off the dance floor at the African Arts Festival this past weekend. She said it was because she’s white.
A festival event staffer told her:
“This is not the caucasian arts festival.”
Stone was dancing the — The Butterfly Ballet Dance when she was asked to leave the dance floor. The officials told her:
“This is not the European dance festival. This is not the caucasian dance festival.”
Or maybe it was because they didn’t like her butterfly outfit?
A woman says she was kicked off the dance floor at a St. Louis arts festival because she is white.
Susan Stone said she was dancing at the African Arts Festival in Forest Park when an event staffer asked to her to stop, then made made a racist remark.
“He tells me ‘you can’t be doing this here this is an African American event you can’t be at this event you’re not black,’” Stone said. “I feel angry because they’re missing out on the beauty of everything we’re all supposed to get along together that’s what God says.”
Stone said she caught the alleged incident on tape.
The co-chairman of the event told News 4 Stone was being disruptive between performances and was uncooperative when asked to stop. However, he also said the employee acted out of line.
“That’s something that’s unacceptable and that’s an apology from me because we want everyone to showcase their talents and their abilities,” Jason McNairy said.
