Bomber Mama Zubeidat Tsarnaeva: My Child Is “Locked Up Like a Dog, Like an Animal”

Bomber Mama Zubeidat Tsarnaeva told reporters today it was hard to talk with her son over the phone.

“It was really hard to hear him and for him to hear me. The conversation was very quiet. It was my child. I know he is locked up like a dog, like an animal.

Tsarnaeva previously told the press that if her son was killed she would say, “Allahu Akbar!”

NBC News reported:

Accused Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev called his mother from prison Monday, according to reports.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is recovering from a gunshot wound to the neck, but is apparently able to speak again. He spoke to his mother for the first time since his arrest. The conversation between Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his mother, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, lasted six minutes. Tsarnaeva was promised one phone call per month as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev continues to recover.

“I am absolutely fine, my wounds are healing. Everything is in God’s hands. Be patient. Everything will be fine,” Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reportedly told his mother, according to Bloomberg News.
“I couldn’t stop myself from crying,” Tsarnaeva told Bloomberg.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlan, are accused of carrying out the April 15 bombings at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 260. Tamerlan Tsarnaev died after a shootout with police in Watertown, Mass. days after the bombings. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested April 19 and is being held at an all-male federal prison in Ayer, Mass.

“Mentally he is normal, but the child is shocked,” Tsarnaeva told Bloomberg News. “It was really hard to hear him and for him to hear me. The conversation was very quiet. It was my child. I know he is locked up like a dog, like an animal.”
