Bill Stevens, whose daughter attended Sandy Hook Elementary school, testified before a Working Group Public Hearing at the Connecticut State Capitol on gun violence prevention. Mr. Stevens told the committee about his daughter’s 5th grade friend at the school,

“Unfortunately, her friend’s little sister was murdered in Sandy Hook that day when lock-down and 911 were not enough to protect her from an evil person… Charlton Heston made the phrase “From my cold dead hands” famous and I am here to tell you today, you will take my ability to protect my Victoria from my cold dead hands.”

Hey numbnuts, have you ever bothered to notice that only right wing sites like this one will allow you to troll every day like you do without getting BANNED? The rude, arrogant behavior and endless propagandizing that you employ EVERY DAY here is routinely banned at nearly EVERY ONE of the popular left wing sites, and even places like Facebook have started censoring the conservative and religious content they deem “objectionable”. So, don’t get your panties in a bunch just because someone WISHES you weren’t trolling here. At least your BS is ALLOWED here.

I’m curious. Have you ever even bothered to THANK Mr. Hoft for his tolerance and respect for your first amendment rights? No, I didn’t think so … you’re too much of an arrogant jerk to ever show any appreciation for anything. We fight for your rights, while morons like you censor US, and fight to support the tyrants who are trying to take our rights away. Pathetic …

Shadow, I know you’re hoping to get a pat on the back or a bone tossed your way for stabbing your fellow citizens in the back, but do you really hate us so much that you’d sell your own country down the river just to see a few of us suffer?

  2. #45 – Rest assured, we’ve got your back my friend …

  3. (1) Yes. Along with short barreled rifles and shotguns. Full auto is hard to control, and hasn’t been used in crime since the gangster days.

Could that have something to do with the National Firearms Act of 1934?

  5. Hey numbnuts, have you ever bothered to notice that only right wing sites like this one will allow you to troll every day like you do without getting BANNED?

If you had any idea what trolling is, you might understand the difference.

Here’s a definition to work with: In Internet slang, a troll (pron.: /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Whereas, I merely present an alternate point of view or try to get prople to think about the opinions that they hold. Of course, some people respond emotionally any time their opinion is question. But that is not the fault of the person doing the questioning. And it surely doesn’t make that person a troll. But I guess labeling them so makes it easier to dismiss what they have to say without actually thinking about it.

Oh, and a list of all those sites that don’t allow opposing POVs in their comment section would be appreciated.

  6. “We fight for your rights, while morons like you censor US, and fight to support the tyrants who are trying to take our rights away. Pathetic …”"

Harhar no one can accuse the rwnj here of not being emotionally dramatic. For your information, the blog owner should says thanks to the LW here that increase his traffic. Its all about the $$, treasonous patriot. Even my pal highlander figured that out. Do you ever see the blogmeister comment to the peanut gallery? Someone needs to shine the light of truth in this paranoid pack of cave dwellers. We are seeking out those who conspire to see the US fail and this cesspool is ripe with turd blossoms.

You are a little slow on the uptake eh.

It’s not easy being a leftist who loves guns. It’s like being a Republican who listens to NPR or supports single payer health care. But being a leftist, I get exposed to all the liberal publications and media that invariably call for gun control every time someone does something stupid with one. Being a gun enthusiast, I also get exposed to the political Right’s oversimplification of those liberals as somehow lacking moral fiber or true appreciation of freedom.

    The Assault Weapon Ruse

[Contrary to what the ad clearly implies, any weapon that can fire 300 rounds per minute remains illegal for civilians to own without specific clearance by the US Department of Justice.

In fact, machine guns have been tightly regulated since the passage of the National Firearms Act in 1934, in the wake of the gangster era. Legal ownership of a machine gun requires an extensive federal background check, fingerprinting, signed clearance from the chief of local law enforcement (such as a county sheriff), a $200 excise tax, and weeks of paperwork. That was true before the assault-weapon ban was enacted in 1994, and it remains true with the expiration of the ban at midnight Sept. 13, 2004.

That's made clear in a question-and-answer document posted Sept.
13 on the Web site of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives (ATF), explaining the effect of the expiration of the assault
    -weapon ban:

ATF: All provisions of the National Firearms Act (NFA) relating
to registration and transfer of machine guns . . . still apply.

The fully automatic version of the AK47 -- pictured and described
in the ad -- remains just as illegal as it was before the ban expired.

But it is also a fact that Bush was publicly committed to sign
an extension if Congress passed it, and it was Congress that
    failed to do so.]

    imho, worth repeating..

[“In contrast, in 2009 (5 years after the Federal Assault Weapons Ban
expired) total firearm related homicides in the U.S. declined by 9 percent
from the 2005 high,” the letter says, citing FBI statistics.

Since gun bans don’t really impact violence, what is the issue at hand?

“The purpose of the Second Amendment is to secure our ability to oppose
enemies foreign and domestic, a guarantee against disorder and tyranny,”
    the Green Berets say.

“Throughout history, disarming the populace has always preceded tyrants’
accession of power. Hitler, Stalin, and Mao all disarmed their citizens prior
to installing their murderous regimes. At the beginning of our own nation’s
revolution, one of the first moves made by the British government was an
attempt to disarm our citizens. When our Founding Fathers ensured that
the Second Amendment was made a part of our Constitution, they were
not just wasting ink. They were acting to ensure our present security was
never forcibly endangered by tyrants, foreign or domestic.”]

  12. It’s not easy being a leftist who loves guns.

I’ve never had an issue. I’ve even brought some of my “leftist” friends to the local gun range. And while I agree with most of what the link had to say, we part ways when it comes to XL mags. If there is no benefit for someone committing a crime, how is there a benefit for someone protecting themselves from one? The logic just doesn’t wash.

Because a young mom at home protecting her kids being attacked by several assailants might want to have more than enough bullets to get the job done.

You couldn’t possibly claim to know how to determine the number of bullets a person would use in a frantic situation when they are fighting for their life. And the gun legislation is in response to criminal behavior and illegal use of guns, it shouldn’t be about limiting a person’s ability to protect their family.

How many bullets would you need? It depends on what the situation is. You better have one more bullet than one too few. Tying the hands of law abiding citizens is the wrong way to attack crime. Did you read the part where a person can carry 19 magazines with 10 bullets each? The point was that limiting magazine size is not effective. Did you read the part where the studies showed the previous ban didn’t prevent crime? It’s because criminals will break the law to get what they need.

  17. Logic, bg? You’re kidding, right?
