Rep. Steve King: President Seems to Think He Can Set Aside Language of Constitution & His Oath of Office (Video)

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) commented today on President Obama’s vow to raise the debt limit without negotiations with Republicans in the House. King was on America’s Newsroom this morning.

“He does not have the constitutional authority to raise the debt limit. And, I understand that the White House has receded from that argument in the last several days. But, if the president should decide to defy the constitution it does put the House in the position that we have to defend it. We’ve all taken an oath to uphold the constitution and we respect the oath we gave unlike the president who seems to think he can cavalierly cast aside the language of the constitution and his oath of office. So there’s a couple things we can do.

It’s pretty obvious by now that Barack Obama has no intention of following the US Constitution when it gets in his way of reshaping America. Good for Rep. King for holding this president accountable.

Then the republicans better do something. Stop talking and do something now!!! Not only is Obama wanting to be Americas first King he has some mental health issues.

We need to start melting down some phone lines to the capital.

Traitor In Chief can do anything he find suitable to his Socialist Democrat Commie political taste. Well, we will see in 2013 he will by pass Congress Constitution 2nd Amendment through Executive Order.

  • RedBeard

Rep. King speaks well, but I’m looking for action. Given the widespread impotence of the Republican Party, I’m not holding my breath.

  • Frank

OBAMA HIMSELF IS ILLEGAL AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Good job, Mr. King. Mr. King is one of the best representatives we are blessed with.

But Barry Sotero is an illegal alien posing as a president, a trespasser lurking in the white house. He himself is unconstitutional. The Army and the Secret Service have a duty to get rid of him.

    See obamacrimes.com

His Jish masters (Obama’s owners and operators) got the cases against him fixed.

All his statutes, rules, regulations, appointments and executive orders are all null and void, as a matter of law.

This biggest criminal (and those who fixed the cases against him) should be arrested and tried for the biggest and the most brazen crime in American history.

  • cavt

Enough talk. (I think King is one of the few decent reps but that only goes so far.) Words without actions at this time are worse than worthless. Don’t keep teasing about something being done when nothing is–e.g. fast and furious, Benghazi, executive orders enforcing new spending decrees without congress approval, no budget, etc. Obamaites are destroying the foundations of this country and the constitution with impunity.

  • All_IS_LOST

Frank: – “Jish Masters” Really going there? I will never understand this thinking.

Democrats and Republicans have ignored the Constitution for many decades. Obama may be the most arrogant. An Executive order is meant to clarify existing law and not make law which is reserved for the legislature, but this did not stop any president of course.

  • StandUpChuck

Republicans, stop talking and do something, NOW! We are sick of the banter!

…We’ve all taken an oath to uphold the constitution and we respect the oath we gave unlike the president…

Horsechit. Maybe, and I’m being generous, that might apply to three of you. Out of 535.

The rest are in it for the perks, or for the power, or for the money, or for the fame.

530+ people swore an oath, but since words don’t have definitions, and since anything can now mean anything else and even its opposite, and since the God who gave us the Bible upon which they swore that oath has been banished from their hearts, it means NOTHING.

The Constitution was written and designed to be used by a Godly, and even Christian nation. A surrealist, postmodernist, reason-free, Godless, greedy, selfish, and so-open-minded-that-their-brains-fell-out nation cannot be governed by the Constitution.

    It’s just not possible.

  • JDR-Taq

I’m surprised Lockman Foundation (NASB), Zondervan (NIV), Thomas Nelson (NKJV), and others, haven’t endeavored to “translate” our United States Constitution?

I mean why not? I mean, really. 1700’s language is soooo ancient and needs to be revised for the modern “ear” and sensibilities. Just come up with different versions. New American Standard Constitution; New International Constitution; New Revised Standard Constitution.

    “We, a group of people…”

    “We, the assembled…”

    “This nation of people…”

    “Us people, who exist here…”

Thanks for proving (once again) that you’re a troll Shadow/JDR-Taq (and all the other sock-puppet/screen names that you only fool yourself with). Note: Smart trolls trolls rarely, if ever, give themselves away with what the say. You, on the other hand, routinely manage to “paint yourself into a corner” with your own keyboard.

The sad and funny thing about the likes of you Shadow is that you lack the intelligence required to understand that you’re the entertainment value in here. Someday you might mature enough to realize that trolling is for immature people who have nothing better to do with their pathetic lives (that is, besides kissing-up to the likes of Obama and the other politicians you worship).

Meanwhile, the only thing you accomplish in here is to give normal intelligent adults the chance to prove you wrong in just about everything you post…

Presuming you count yourself among the “the normal intelligent adults” here, and that I have given you ample opertunity to prove me wrong, I have to wonder why you have failed to do so. All I get from you and your ilk is name-calling.

  • FMB42

You’re the one who almost always resorts to name-calling Shadow.

Below are just a few examples of the name-calling you engage in:

Pee Party Caucus (Shadow, this thread, comment # 15)

special ed children (Shadow, this thread, comment # 18).

You can stick around and take yet another drubbing from me. Or you can run and hide and/or ignore me.

You know, like you did in this GP thread:

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2013/01/its-a-war-zone-more-murders-in-chicago-in-2012-than-allied-losses-in-afghanistan/comment-page-2/#comment-936725

Again (for the third time) Shadow; can you give us a comparison between the gun control laws of Chicago and Afghanistan?

  • shadow

    Err … ample opportunity

You can stick around and take yet another drubbing from me. Or you can run and hide and/or ignore me.

    Drubbing?? Really? You flatter yourself.

Sorry, I don’t scour the archives hoping that you might sooner or later come up with something worth responding to. Once it’s off the page, it gone.

Hey Shadow, can you give us a comparison between the gun control laws of Chicago and Afghanistan?

And regardless of how proud you are over this one, it is of minimal import, since coalition troops are not bound by Afghani gun laws. Stomp you feet all you want, it still doesn’t make Aghanistan safer for Americans than Chicago.

special ed children (Shadow, this thread, comment # 18).

Neither of which I called you, and one was about a public figure. You on the other hand, offered: you’re a troll; sock-puppet/screen names; lack the intelligence required to understand; pathetic lives; and kissing-up to the likes of Obama, all directed at me and in one single post.

If there were a device to measure invective, the meter would be pegged. But then I don’t mind. I just consider the source. Carry on.

  • JDR-Taq

Nope. Not a sockpuppet. I’ve posted here as Taqiyyotomist for 7 years or so. Changed it to JDR recently (my initials), and more recently to JDR-Taq.

And I’ve remained consistent this whole time. And sheesh, I thought I was paranoid sometimes.

  • FMB42

I mistook you for another Shadow sock JDR-Taq.

    My mistake.

Meanwhile Shadow, you still refuse to answer my question.

    Quote:
“And regardless of how proud you are over this one, it is of minimal import, since coalition troops are not bound by Afghani gun laws.”

Not all coalition troop losses are due to the actions of other coalition troops. Some are, but not all.

Meanwhile, you still can’t tell us about the Afghan gun laws that “coalition troops are not bound by” and the (in your mind) “minimal import(ance)” these (unexplained) laws have on the issue.

Your feet are dancing faster than you mind is capable of keeping up with.

What’s the matter Shadow, not finding much entertainment in painting yourself into a corner?

    It’s OK Shadow.

The paint will dry sooner or later…

Oh and by the way Shadow, your “special ed children” insult is on par with Obama’s similar “Special Olympics” insult.

  • shadow

    My mistake.
Not your first. Won’t be your last.

Meanwhile Shadow, you still refuse to answer my question.
If you find it so interesting, you do the research. Let me know what you find. Then you can attempt to explain its pertinence.

What’s the matter Shadow, not finding much entertainment in painting yourself into a corner?
Heavens no! You have been providing more entertainment than all of your compatriots summed together. (Sorry High-man, but I have to call it like it is.)

  • Highlander

Of course you’re right FMB … only a misguided child, a disturbed zealot, or someone being paid to spread liberal propaganda would spend their waking hours trolling a conservative web sites picking fights. Normal, rational adults use blogs to interact with like-minded people and share news and opinions, not to hurl lies and insults at people they KNOW will disagree with everything they say.

Shadow says he comes here for “entertainment” but it’s pretty obvious that’s not the case. Who could possibly find entertainment value in the constant bickering he engages in here? I know I certainly don’t. If I really wanted to spend my time bickering, I wouldn’t be here, I’d be at some left wing site picking fights just like he does.

Of course, we’d all be delighted if the jerk would just leave and never come back, but he probably won’t, so if he insists on coming here, all we can do is continue to expose the lies he parrots and hope that he doesn’t turn out to be the next serial killer we read about in the news.

  • shadow

Oh and by the way Shadow, your “special ed children” insult is on par with Obama’s similar “Special Olympics” insult.

Oh yeah. Obama compared his bowling to the Special Olympics, and Sarah Palin squealed like a stuck pig. Then Rahm Emanuel called fellow Democrats, “retarded,” and Palin squealed like a stuck pig … with lipstick. Yet when Rush Limbaugh called Democrats retarded … /sound of crickets./ And I find your hypocritical bullcrap no more palatible than hers.

  • shadow

Of course, we’d all be delighted if the jerk would just leave and never come back

Well now I certainly won’t. LMAO While I could be perfectly civil, if those who disagree could do the same, I doubt you are capable. Go ahead. Prove me wrong.

  • Shadow

I’m not “disturbed” … really. It’s just my job … I have a right to work and support myself don’t I? I’m just exercising my right to free speech. You people support the Constitution and the first amendment don’t you? Besides, lies and propaganda don’t really hurt anybody, do they? I’m making pretty good money doing what I do, and I don’t even have to leave the comfort of my momma’s basement to do it. Plus, the very BEST part is that, like it or not, you people are paying my salary!!

Also, you should know that I have the full support of the Obama administration too, so if I’m offending or insulting anyone’s intelligence, that’s just too damn bad. If you teabaggers keep being mean to me, I’m going to call my handler and have someone from the Justice Department pay you all a little visit, so back off…

    That is all …

So, in your mind(?) Shadow, the majority of coalition troop losses of 2012 were caused by…now get this…coalition troops who “aren’t bound by Afghan gun laws” (that you can’t describe).

Like I said, you’re dancing faster than you mind can follow Shadow.

Ok, so you can’t, or won’t, answer my question. We get it. No amount dancing around the question by you can change the fact that you can’t, or won’t, provide an answer.

Well Shadow, I can tell you this; Chicago’s gun murder rate clearly indicates that Chicago criminals aren’t much bound by Chicago’s gun laws either.

In other words Shadow, the majority of those that committed Chicago’s 532 murders during 2012, as mentioned in the GP “It’s a War Zone!” thread, were obviously not “bound by Chicago’s gun laws.”

I, unlike you in regard to Afghan gun laws, am willing, and able, to provide Chicago’s current gun laws. Here they are:

“The possession of firearms and ammunition by Illinois residents requires a State Police issued Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.” The FOID card is required for any resident of Illinois to possess or purchase firearms. During the FOID application process, the applicant’s identification and background information is checked. Individuals with prohibiting factors are disallowed from obtaining a FOID card.

“The city of Chicago requires registration of firearms. Residents must complete a firearm safety course, pass a background check including fingerprinting, and pay a $100 permit fee which is renewed every three years. Registration of any handgun assumes an additional one time fee of $15.”

The fact is that the vast majority of Chicago’s murder victims are killed by gun wielding criminals that ignore Chicago’s gun laws. Very few of these murderer suspects completed the required firearm safety course, the background check, and the fingerprinting process. Nor did these murderers pay the $100 permit fee required by Chicago’s gun possessing residents.

But hey, maybe all of this is of “minimal import” in your mind.

    Right Shadow?

I guess this is what we can expect from someone (like you) who considers the discussion of coalition troop losses and/or Chicago’s murder rate as being “entertaining.”
