Obama: You Can’t Go to a Restaurant and Eat and Not Pay Your Bill (Video)

Barack Obama, Mr. Trillion Dollar Deficit, lectured the American public and Republicans about going to a restaurant and eating and then not wanting to pay their bill.
“You don’t go out to dinner and then eat all you want and then leave without paying the check.”
That’s why the US is borrowing 46 cents on every dollar.

Barack Obama is the first US president in history to run four straight years of trillion dollar deficits.
No one has come close to that record.

“You don’t go out to dinner and then eat all you want and then leave without paying the check.”

Didn’t hen just do that in Hawaii at the cost of $20,000.000

  • Patrick

I think what he is really saying is that if you can’t afford to eat at that nice restaurant, go ahead and do it anway, just get a higher credit limit, so you can charge it and deal with the expense and interest later. He doesn’t get to the part about paying for the credit card bill — that presumably comes later.

  • cavt

I get so sick of this idiot who has no concept of spending, right or wrong, or truth, constantly lecturing us. I’m also sick of the idiot people that make excuses for him and follow him blindly. They are wrecking the country and I have no desire to go down with them.

  • Warthog

The dirty secret/non-secret is you are *already* paying the bill through inflation and high-interest payments.
Don’t believe me? Look at the price of gas (as one of the most obvious yardsticks). That doubling of price did not occur on the back of economic expansion but on dollar contraction.

“”You don’t go out to dinner and then eat all you want and then leave without paying the check.”

Sure you do. If you’re a politician. They’ve been doing it for years now, living high on the hog on OUR money, and sticking us with the tab. It’s time we called it what it is … theft…. and held them accountable for it.

The American people didn’t “run up the tab”, our greedy politicians did. THEY bribed their way into career political positions with our money, and now they want to blame US because we were foolish enough to take the bait. Sure, we have some responsibility for letting them do this to us, but the fact is, THEY were the ones who took the JOB, and THEY are the ones who have failed to perform it honestly and responsibly.

They’ve proven that they can’t be trusted now, so it’s time we cut up their credit cards and FORCE them to start paying down the debt. If they won’t, we should FIRE every last one of them, and replace them with a new crop of non-career representatives. We need honest, decent Americans from all walks of life to sit down and decide where the cuts need to be made without worrying about who gets re-elected. Period. If we don’t start insisting on that, and start demanding fiscal accountability from Washington, then we deserve everything we get …

We are facing a crisis in this country … a budget crisis, and a political crisis, and the future of America is at stake. If we don’t face that fact soon and do something about it, this country is doomed …

That’s right baby, them peas ain’t free.

Here’s the thing Barry doesn’t seem to get. If you can’t afford to pay the bill you shouldn’t be going to restaurants. Pretty simple stuff.

For the record, I did not vote to go out and eat at the restaurant. In fact, about 47% of the people when out and ate without me, and then sent me the bill.

  • Highlander

EXACTLY Lilly, and it’s amazing that our own President just can’t understand that….

Personally, I think he does. And so do all the other politicians. It’s just that they’ve had their hands in our pockets for so long now, they don’t really know any other way …

    inflation and high-interest payments.

The inflation rate for 2012 was 1.8%. As for interest rates:
Mortgage rates reached an all-time low for the second consecutive week amid the Federal Reserve’s purchase of securities and “indicators of a weakening economy,” government-sponsored Freddie Mac, said Thursday morning.

The weekly average for the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage in the U.S. fell to 3.36 percent for the week ending Oct. 4, down from 3.4 percent last week and 3.94 percent a year ago.

Don’t believe me? Look at the price of gas (as one of the most obvious yardsticks). That doubling of price did not occur on the back of economic expansion but on dollar contraction.
Ahh, the old “doubling of gas price” talking point.

Amid the bustle of President Obama’s surprise stop for barbecue Wednesday the White House apparently overlooked one key detail: the bill.

Celebrating Father’s Day early, the president had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.

As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.

The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.

Seems JH copied everything except the last line.
The White House corrected the oversight and settled up the tab by the end of the business day.

I’m shocked, shocked that GP would allow such an omission.

Millions of people on public assistance pay little, if any, of their bills (restaurant or otherwise).

Meanwhile, Obama continues to focus on exceeding his 5.4 trillion “shopping spree” by simply increasing our debt limit. This, and Harry Reid’s refusal to bring a budget to a vote for the last 4 years, has (by design) effectively given Obama a blank check.

As usual, Obama latest line of propaganda is designed to cater towards his “vote early, vote often” public assistance funded supporters (that all too often live out their lives while letting others pay their bills).

These public assistance funded people will, of course, believe anything Obama says just as long as they don’t have to pay bills for their free section 8 housing, free health and day care, free energy, free food, etc, etc, etc. This is not to mention the free cash they get from us…

  • shadow

This, and Harry Reid’s refusal to bring a budget to a vote for the last 4 years, has (by design) effectively given Obama a blank check.

So, you believe that if there is no budget resolution, the president gets to spend anything he wants on whatever he wants? Really?

If that were the case, why would there have been a need for the stimulus bill?

  • http://biggovernment.com ponderon

Another day, another dog and phony show…… he’s going to act without congress or the people on the debt-celling, this was just another show for public’s view ,Nanny and Harry has already given their approval for excutive order to by-pass congress and the Hell with constitution.

  • Patty

And he did, left a restaurant without paying. By the way, what’s a restaurant? We have gone out in several years. We have bills to pay. We are fighting against Obama rule.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

“You don’t go out to dinner and then eat all you want and then leave without paying the check.”

We can always handle it in the manner that he handles the country’s finances, which is use a credit card, and as the balance is run up, whine about the limit and demand that it be raised.

  • Patty

    have not, correction.

  • Look-Out

FOX noted he had no answer for Major Garrett who pointed out his hypocrisy on raising the debt limit.

He voted against it as Senator, loudly criticizing Bush/Repubs that it showed a lack of leadership/responsibility.

Somehow it’s different this time around. Remember: the rules, laws, standards and criticism will never apply to him. Nearly all his life, he’s lived by a different set of rules (privileged in its own way) and has had some of the wealthiest men in the world investing in him and supporting him through it all.

SOMEONE ELSE HAS ALWAYS PAID HIS WAY, GOTTEN HIM THE JOB, ETC. He knows NOTHING of what it is to really work hard and make it on your own.

So, if he weren’t the commieloving sob he is that’s trying to destroy our country, I’d simply say he’s a pampered, putrid little prince with an addictive personality type that can’t control his spending any more than he can control his drug addictions…so fiscal sanity is foreign to him.

  • Patty

It is sad when the taxpayers have to pay for his spending, isn’t it. That is the worse part of this. Spending on things that are inconsequential. Pet projects, blatant squandering money away.

Obama is destroying America and he hasn’t been sworn is for yet, another term. Sad when you can’t seem to do a thing about it. Our leaders don’t seem to be. Spineless.

That’s pretty much what Obama has been doing since Jan 2009 (often through executive order). This, of course, is why our debt has increased by 5.4 trillion dollars since he took office.

You, unfortunately, can’t see the reality of this because you’ve had your lips stuck to Obama’s rear end for the last 4 years.

Lousy analogy as usual. Here’s a more accurate one for you Mr. Prez.

You take a lunch break from your bankruptcy hearing to go and feed your face. You bring 20 “close” friends you want to impress, you select a very expensive place to eat. At the end of the meal you try to pay with your maxed out credit card and it is rejected, so you go out in the street and rob 50 people to pay for your “lunch”. And with a big smile, and adoring sycophants surrounding you, you leave the restaurant. Stiffing the waiter.

I think that would be a more accurate analogy, don’t you President ass-hat?

Obama is such a dumb*ss. You don’t go to a restaurant in the first place when you don’t have the money to pay the bill. The left is working overtime to advance the meme that the GOP plans to refuse to raise the debt ceiling and stiff everyone we owe, which is, of course, COMPLETELY FALSE. What is being proposed is simply refusing to raise the debt ceiling until a WORKABLE PLAN is in place to reverse the course we’re on and pay the debt down. What objection could anyone possibly have to that plan, unless of course they have no intention of EVER reducing spending?

What we’re looking at is the equivalent of sending Washington to a credit counselor and getting our debt restructured, and anyone who has ever been through that process knows that the FIRST STEP in that process is always CUTTING UP THE DAMN CREDIT CARDS so the problem doesn’t get any worse. This is just common sense, and the people who are objecting to it and trying to make the public believe that it’s a mistake (yes, that’s YOU Shadow) are enemies of America. Period. Our creditors will be happy to wait a few days for this issue to be sorted out if it means putting the United States back on solid fiscal ground and protecting their investment….

Once we have a plan in place, it is certainly conceivable that SOME creditors and some federal programs will be receiving a little less than they would like to be receiving, but something has to give somewhere if we’re ever going to reduce the debt. The left would have us believe that the GOP wants to just quit paying our bills completely, which is complete BS. The fact is, our credit rating has ALREADY BEEN DOWNGRADED because we couldn’t come up with a plan, and jacking the debt ceiling up again without a plan will only make it worse. Our credit rating has nowhere to go but down if we continue to allow our debt to balloon, and I think most Americans understand that. It’s just simple economics and it amazes me how willing the left is to insult our intelligence by telling us otherwise.

The bottom line is that Washington has spent more than we pay in taxes for several decades, and put it all on credit. Now, we’re sitting here with all the goodies they’ve given us, but none of it has been paid for. We’re going to have to spend LESS than we take in for quite a while now to pay off those debts, and that’s going to require some sacrifices … sacrifices that liberals are apparently unwilling to make without a fight.

If it’s a fight they want, then it’s a fight they’ll get, because we simply cannot continue to kick this can down the road any longer without putting our entire economy at risk. I think the GOP recognizes that, and hopefully, they will refuse to back down this time…

Shadow, as usual, you’re too busy sucking up to Obama and playing the partisan fool to see the point of the post.

The point of the post is the same as the point of just about every post here. OBAMA BAD! DEMOCRAT BAD! REPUBLICAN GOOD! IF REPUBLICAN BAD, NOT REPUBLICAN, BUT BAD DEMOCRAT PLAYING REPUBLICAN.

The Republicans in the House could just as easily address future spending in upcoming appropriation bills and in resolving the sequester, but if they did that, they would have to indentify the cuts in spending. By going after the debt ceiling, that can push the tough choices onto Obama, and then they not only get the cuts they want, but they get to blame them on Obama as well, like they have in the past. e.g. OBAMA CUT MEDICARE! OBAMA CUT SCHOOL SECURITY FUNDING!

  • shadow

Shadow, you’re citing government sources for your data on inflation. The very same government that is RESPONSIBLE for said inflation, and the very same government that gives us the distorted labor statistics every month. Open your eyes man. Get out some old receipts, go to the store and see what things cost today compared to two years ago. You will be in for a big surprise. I paid $49 for a 4′ live blue spruce for Christmas two years ago, This year, same tree, same store …. $79

I use quicken to keep track of all of my expenses, and every time I enter an expense, it auto-fills the transaction from the last time I used that vendor. The steady increases are staggering. Paint is up almost 75% …. beer has gone from around $50 a keg to nearly $100 ….
