MO Senator Speaks Out: Her Bill Will Force Parents to Tell Schools If They Own a Gun (Video)

Missouri state Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal wants parents to notify schools if they own a gun.

Chappelle-Nadal proposed bill SB124 this week:

“This act requires a parent or guardian to notify a school district, or the governing body of a private or charter school, that he or she owns a firearm within 30 days of enrolling the child in school or becoming the owner of a firearm.”

On Wednesday Sen. Chappelle-Nadal held a press conference in Jefferson City to discuss her controversial proposal.

FOX 2 News reported:

The sad story of a twelve year old who shot and killed another child with his grandfather’s unlocked gun is just one example that is motivating Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal to call for sanctions against careless parents and guardians of minors. The democrat’s proposed bill targets an often lethal mix; guns and unsupervised kids in what Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal calls “Urban Core” areas.“I wholly believe in the Second Amendment but the Second Amendment does not say that a 12-year old can shoot a 12-year old. There is no protection for that so what we are trying to to do here address is what is happening in our urban cities.” said State Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal – (D) University City.

Senate Bill 124 targets the failure to properly lock or secure a firearm and would penalize a parent or guardian who fails to stop their minor child from possessing a firearm illegally. The bill would also require parents to report gun ownership to their children’s schools.

“What we’re saying is if you are parent “x” we would like to know as a school district that you have a gun.” said state Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal.

Chappelle-Nadal just a few rotten apples in the barrel doesn’t mean most apples are rotten. Sigh.

As if the NRA “Life Memeber” sticker on my truck, the NRA “Patron Life Member” fleece jacket, and the NRA “I Support the Troops” coffee mug aren’t clues enough. She can kiss my straight-leg ass.

    Today’s Headline:

Teen shot while playing basketball paralyzed from the waist-down

16-year-old Mario Whitehead, of Orlando, Florida, was playing basketball with friends when he was shot in the shoulder. Another teen, 17-year-old Takim Neal, was carrying a handgun when he unintentionally discharged the weapon . . .

Schools are now used as indoctrinations centers run by unions .

Looks like ol’ Maria has decided to double down on stupid. I’m guessing a room temperature IQ here. How else could she possibly come up with such utter claptrap?

Liberals are destroying this country, starting with indoctrinating children. Same ole plan of all corrupt and freedom free governments. It is no one’s business but my own if I own guns unless I choose to disclose it myself. Certainly not the school’s. You don’t punish law abiding citizens for what criminals do. Why can’t they get this through their heads? Maybe this woman needs to try to work on family values for many parents in the schools. Start with helping the children who are abused.

  • Kate

Furthermore, just what do they plan to do with the information of who are gunowners? Are they planning to take action against them? Are they targeting them for some kind of abuse? Set up requirements or intimidate them? Sounds dubious to me.

This is the Obamaite plan–take a little here, throw out an idea there, float a trial balloon. Their ultimate goal is to disarm the citizenry so the govt can be all powerful. Of course, they want to avoid another revolution, so it has to be done a little at a time while demonizing anyone who suggests this is their goal.

There’s various ways to use the information obtain from Gun owners. We might understand the possibility they trying to gain larger number to fight against Gun Owners. Requirements aren’t the issue…possibility bloodshed might happen when Al Qaeda Muslim Brotherhood Jihad Islamist militant takes over school. We shouldn’t underestimate them but it better to overestimate them.

I say we force the kids /report being a parasite welfare taker, foodstamps taker, if they have had one or more abortions, if they are shacked up with someone, if they have ever been arrested, if they have an Obama phone, if they do drugs. I believe these show us more about the home situation and dangers faced by others at school.

Let’s put it this way: the GOP currently controls both the MO House and Senate with the largest majorities they’ve had since the Civil War. Let that sink in….since the CIVIL WAR. In fact, their majorities are veto-proof.

Bottom line: what this means is that there’s a better chance that Obama will write a glowing Amazon review of “Atlas Shrugged” than there is of Senator Chapelle-Nadal-Knucklehead’s bill getting passed into law. 😉

    Leslie Brillstein commented:

Underage criminal carrying a pistol …. And this has exactly what do with legislation taking rifles away from law-abiding adults?

Meanwhile, about those rifles — they are a substantial deterrent to crimes, such as burglary with a handgun, in this case.

For an extra treat, you can scroll down into the comments to get some statistics. They don’t have the links, but it’s obvious they’ve been reading.

Do Libwits have the reasoning power to think things through even the least little bit before they start flapping their gums? Did she somehow miss the world-wide press coverage of the Newspaper in New York that published gun owner names and addresses? Wonder what she learned from that? Apparently not much.
