Chuck Schumer Asks Retailers for Moratorium on Gun Sales

It begins.

Sen. Chuck Schumer asked gun retailers to suspend sales of assault weapons today in a letter.
13WHAM reported, via Free Republic:

Sen. Charles Schumer says retailers that sell assault weapons should stop offering them for purchase while Congress discusses gun regulation legislation.

Schumer on Sunday released a letter he sent to major retailers asking for a voluntary moratorium.

The New York Democrat says consumer demand for guns has gone up in the weeks since the December mass shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Schumer says Congress is debating the issue, and if measures get passed that limit these type of weapons, it won’t help if more of them have recently been sold.

Deal promising military presence in Mali

[Washington is preparing to extend its unmanned aerial vehicles, UAVs,
or drones, to target AQIM strongholds in Mali. AQIM already is in U.S.
gunsights for the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Until recently, the U.S. has had troops in Mali but has had to pull them
out due to the increasing political turmoil in Mali’s capital of Bamako.
As a result, there are fears that the northern portion of Mali will come
increasingly under the influence of AQIM and become a new sanctuary
    for international terrorism.]

People. I’ve had a little too much vino, according to my better half, and there are times when we all need a break. This song penetrated my feeble mind. It has always been a favorite because it reminds me of someone recently lost to us. He most assuredly did it his way. I wish you all had known him. So please forgive an old lady who just has the need to share this song with you tonight. God bless.

“The New York Democrat says consumer demand for guns has gone up in the weeks since the December mass shooting in Newtown, Conn.”

Close, but wrong Chuck. Demand shot up after you guys started whining about taking away the right of the American people to purchase guns. Shootings do not spur sales, gun grabbers do. If you hadn’t promptly used the bodies of small children to promote your grabby agenda, odds are sales would have *dropped*.

  • Bill

No need for a moratorium Chuck, everyone is SOLD OUT!

  • BarbaraS

Does this clown understand that gun companies are not philanthropic organizations? Selling guns are their liverlihood. There would be a rebellion if gun manufactories obeyed this smuck and his cabal. People are not pleased the gun companies have run out of guns anyway. They would be doubly displease if they knew how much ammunition the government has bought in the last four years. Besides, I read that Harry (nutso) Reid slid into obamacare a law that neither congress nor the president can ban or limit any guns or impose gun control of any kind. Do the jokers in the WH, House, Senate want to repeal obamacare? This gun control crap is just a distraction from 1) his egregious cabinet picks. 2) Leaving Afghanistan. 3) 12 million people out of work (I’ll bet the figure is higher than that). 4) FICA and Medicare increases. 5) the rotten economy. 6) The deficit. 7) obama wanting to raise the debt ceiling again. 8) Everything else this POS has done in violation of the Constitution..

right under our noses, in plain sight.. 😡

What a fool! They are already sold out, and back orders in the thousands. He must think he has a lot of influence to send out letters to retailers to stop legal commerce.

    “When the revolution comes…” :-(

[Boss and Obama, however, had a starkly different view. They believed that the economic stresses of the Carter years meant revolution was still imminent. The election of Reagan was simply a minor set-back in terms of the coming revolution. As I recall, Obama repeatedly used the phrase “When the revolution comes….” In my mind, I remember thinking that Obama was blindly sticking to the simple Marxist theory that had characterized my own views while I was an undergraduate at Occidental College. “There’s going to be a revolution,” Obama said, “we need to be organized and grow the movement.” In Obama’s view, our role must be to educate others so that we might usher in more quickly this inevitable revolution.

I know this may be implausible to some readers, but I distinctly remember Obama surprising me by bringing up Frantz Fanon and colonialism. He impressed me with his knowledge of these two topics, topics which were not among my strong points — or of overwhelming concern to me. Boss and Obama seemed to think their ideological purity was a persuasive argument in predicting that a coming revolution would end capitalism. While I felt I was doing them a favor by providing them with the latest research, I saw I was in danger of being cast as a reactionary who did not grasp the nuances of international Marxist theory.]
