The chair of the Congressional Black Caucus went off during a debate with Newt Gingrich on Thursday. Rep Marcia Fudge called Republicans “evil and mean” because they won’t spend money like drunken sailors.
Marcia is the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.
The crowd roared at her response.
Her full response is here.
The Cleveland Plains Dealer reported:
Congressional Black Caucus chair Marcia Fudge had harsh words on Thursday night for GOP colleagues on the House Agriculture Committee who she says “literally do not believe there is poverty in this country.”
In a George Washington University panel discussion on poverty hosted by PBS’s Tavis Smiley, Fudge expressed her disappointment with colleagues who voted to cut food stamps by $16.5 billion over the next 10 years.
“These same people believe if you do not work, you are lazy,” Fudge told the symposium, which was aired on C-SPAN. “These same people believe that if your children don’t get a good education, something is wrong with you. These are the craziest people I have seen in my life. Just absolute nuts. They don’t understand that the government’s job is to take care of its people.”
The Warrensville Heights Democrat, who just started a two-year term as chair of the Black Caucus, said that if such people continue to get elected to Congress, “we are never going anywhere as a country.”
“Because we deal with nuts, every single day,” said Fudge. “These people are evil and mean. They care nothing about anybody but themselves. And so, if you think you are going to have anything bipartisan, you need to think again. It is not happening.”
She has no ideas.
She’s just a typical Democrat who demands that government spends more of your money.

SOUNDS SUSTAINABLE: Using GAAP accounting principles, annual federal deficit increased 30 percent in 2012
The term Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (or GAAP) refers to the standard framework for financial reporting that most U.S. corporations employ. The act of intentionally producing false GAAP statements is a crime.
John Williams, writing at ShadowStats.com (subscription required), used the Treasury Department’s latest financial statements and calculates the true 2012 federal deficit, which includes the net present value of unfunded liabilities like Social Security and Medicare) at:
$6.9 trillion
In 2011, using GAAP accounting, the federal deficit was:
$5.0 trillion
Which means the annual deficit grew at a rate of nearly:
30 percent in one year
Anyone who thinks this level of fiscal irresponsibility can last much longer, raise your hand.
As for you Democrats: history will not treat kindly your support of the people who are quite literally stealing our children’s futures.
And why the feckless, cowardly, and pathetic Republican “leaders” aren’t shouting these numbers from the rooftops at every opportunity remains a mystery for the ages.

Ditto on all the lies and inconsistencies with Sandy Hook and Benghazi. If you believe Obama, Hillary et al are telling the truth, you are entitled to that opinion. I happen not to believe most of what they say.
I do, however, agree with you about the racial slurs that sometimes appear here.

I think some enterprising Republican politician should take this woman’s remarks, and address them seriously, point by point.
I think Newt Gingrich would be perfect for this, along with Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindahl, Alan West, Alfonzo Rachel and Thomas Sowell, just for starters.
I’m no Republican, but I’d start the discussion here:

because the policies of this administration have landed hard on the black middle class.

NY STATE ASSEMBLYMAN SOUNDS THE ALARM: Democrats’ First Gun Bill Ordered Confiscation of Firearms!
New York State Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin says he was asked to keep the Democrat proposals for the NY SAFE Act away from the public. NY STATE ASSEMBLYMAN SOUNDS THE ALARM: Democrats’ First Gun Bill Ordered Confiscation of Firearms!
…This bill was an attack on the 2nd amendment and the Democrats clearly wanted to dismantle the work of the Founding Fathers. None of these amendments were included in the final bill thanks to us fighting back. I will not stand silent while these unpatriotic proposals are pathetically thrown at us a 11 o’clock at night:
1. Confiscation of “assault weapons”
2. Confiscation [of] ten round clips
3. Statewide database for ALL Guns
4. Continue to allow pistol permit holder’s information to be [revealed] to the public
5. Label semiautomatic shotguns with more than 5 rounds or pistol grips as “assault weapons”
6. Limit the number of rounds in a magazine to 5 and confiscation and forfeiture of banned magazines
7. Limit possession to no more than two (2) magazines
8. Limit purchase of guns to one gun per person per month
9. Require re-licensing of all pistol permit owners
10. Require renewal of all pistol permits every five years
11. State issued pistol permits
12. Micro-stamping of all guns in New York State
13. Require licensing of all gun ammo dealers
14. Mandatory locking of guns at home
15. Fee for licensing, registering weapons

As a fairly strong rule, whatever liberals accuse others of they themselves are presently guilty of. There are sound psychological reasons for this, but that is another story.

Rep. Fudge: I am a conservative Republican, and I am neither mean nor evil. My husband and I want you to keep your hands off of our money because you Democrats have proven to be wasteful and you disregard the needs of the poor. We give to charities in our town, like two programs we support with thousands of dollars a year, to mentor poor children in Washington, DC. My family has adopted interracially. Some of our children have travelled abroad extensively to work with the poor in other countries. We use our money, the money you allow us to keep after paying taxes, to do these things. If you would allow us to keep more of our hard earned money, we could help even more people. But a good percentage of the money we pay in taxes is wasted or lost to fraud.
Again, we are not evil or mean. We are conservative Republicans, and we live the charity of our faith, with great joy. Perhaps you should get to know some of us. Then maybe you would not be so mean when you describe us.
