Barack Obama on Geithner: “One of the Finest Secretaries of the Treasury” in History (Video)

In a White House press conference today Barack Obama said with Timothy Geithner they had begun to bring down the deficit. Obama also said Geithner was one of our finest secretaries of the treasury in US history.

“And we’ve begun to reduce our deficit through a balanced mix of spending cuts and reforms to a tax code that at the time we both came in was too skewed in favor of the wealthy at the expense of middle class Americans. So when the history books are written Tim Geithner is is going to go down as one of our finest secretaries of the treasury.”

Malarkey.

For the record… The latest fiscal cliff deal passed last week will add another $4 trillion to the deficit. Obama and Geithner also set an international record for running four straight years of trillion dollar deficits.

Geithner presided over four years of trillion dollar deficits and added $5.8 trillion to the debt.
It’s the worst record ever, so it only makes sense that Obama thinks he’s a star.

Here’s another memorable Geithner moment. In April 2011 Geither said there was “no way” the US would lose its top credit rating.

The economy was downgraded four months later in August 2011.

This is Turbo Timmy in response to Paul Ryan:

Pressed on this point, Geithner admits the future looks dim and that he has no plan to fix it:

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner: We have millions of Americans retiring everyday and that will drive substantial growth rates for healthcare costs. And so you were right to say…We’re not coming before you to say we have a definitive solution to our long-term problem. What we do know is that we don’t like yours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_f20ZDBj5k

Timmy was the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York when the Wall Street Banks were burying themselves in derivatives. His job was to REGULATE these banks. He then orchestrated those very banks during the bailout! Unbelievable!

But, more regulation is definitely the solution, right?

BTW, the evil and corrupt MSM has still not reported on the Texas Independence Rally this week! I know this must have been a huge event here in Texas, but I think they want to keep it quiet!

Jim, please follow up on this important event! You must have contacts with the Patriots! I know all of the Gateway followers are anxious to know what happened! Was Ted Cruz there? Was Rick Perry there? How many showed up? Maybe it was rained out?

Have we set a date for the Show-Me State Rally?

Anxiously awaiting a follow-up! Maybe Maddie know something!

I believe there have been more than a few Treasury Secretarys who are head and shoulders above Geithner.

And they dutifully paid all their owed income taxes, which Geitner still hasn’t done.

Jugears says these crazy things (Timmy is one of the finest yada, yada, yada) because he knows his trolls, those who rely on him for phones, strip joints, etc. will believe anything he says. They hear him talk on their 80 inch TVs and think anything he says is true. They don’t even question it. Anyone who pays attention to the fake president now expects to hear lies. It’s all we’ve ever heard.

Who can forget Geitner’s embarrassing, deer-in-the-headlights new conference on February 10, 2009 where he tried to explain his bank bail out plan?

The stock markets plunged after Geithner rambled on aimlessly about Obama’s half-witted plan to get rid of banks’ toxic assets.

  • Joanne

The best way to stop a massacre is to be vigilant and armed. I have no doubt Obama will go to any length to disarm Americans, because his whole plan to finish the U.S. off entails disarmed the American people – everything hinges on this – it is his holy grail.

  • john03

He didn’t say Geithner was one of the finest Treasury Secretaries of all time. He said the history books would say that. What I take to mean from this is the government will take over the writing of US History. Then they can erase all their mistakes.

Winston, you’d think they could assign some more intelligent trolls to this site. Shadow and Dave are an embarrassment to left-wing trolls everywhere …

The fact is, the debt ceiling standoff should have never happened. Until Democrats, and people like Shadow and Dave recognize that, quit playing the blame game, and admit that federal spending is out of control, we’re going to keep finding ourselves right back at an impasse. Meanwhile, our deficit will continue to grow, and our credit rating will continue to suffer.

Refusing the raise the debt ceiling is the ONLY weapon we have to fight with, and I strongly urge each and every one of our Republican representatives to hold their ground, credit rating be damned. It’s time to slam the brakes on this runaway train before it’s too late …

Sessions expects that the Lew nomination will fail in the Senate, an aide said.

The senator says Lew misrepresented Obama’s 2012 budget by claiming that it did not add to the debt.

“His testimony before the Senate Budget Committee less than two years ago was so outrageous and false that it alone disqualifies,” according to the Sessions’ statement, which was obtained by The Hill in advance.

Finally! You got something right. But I’d be willing to bet it is for all the wrong reasons.

Refusing the raise the debt ceiling is the ONLY weapon we have to fight with

That’s more like it … the simplemindedness I’ve learned to expect from you. First, the sequester was delayed by two months, not canceled. That is a situation where compromises could be hammered out. But more appropriately, there are appropriation bills to be passed. That is where spending levels should be set, and the Republican controlled House has the upper hand there.

  • shadow

Dave: are you kidding? DEM POLICIES caused the crash

Translation: I have nothing of value to add, so here is an OT right wing talking point, and for proof, here is a link to an opinion piece from a propaganda outlet.

If it’s the Republicans fault like you and Shadow seem to think it is, then why wasn’t our credit rating upgraded when the deal was passed.

Obama and the Ds got what they wanted. Why is it still in the tank?

Because the Republicans remained in office and the issue hasn’t gone away? S&P in its downgrade specifically cited “the political brinksmanship of recent months highlights what we see as America’s governance and policymaking becoming less stable, less effective, and less predictable than what we previously believed. The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips in the debate over fiscal policy.” It wasn’t the only reason but it was called out specifically in the actual downgrade.

  • Dave in NYC

#53 read the actual downgrade report. You’ll find some stuff in there that reinforces your worldview no doubt, but also the specific text that supports my position.

  • Little Timmy Gietner is a criminal from way back that should have been arrested and wearing a orange jump suit a long time ago. He is the failed son of another filthy rich leftist bastard who has done nothing but insulate themselves against the unwashed masses. Little Timmy is going to get the big fat golden parachute back to Goldman Sachs. If anything Little Timmy should be audited before he leaves to make sure he’s not stealing a few tens of millions like Paulsen did when he left the Bush administration. You know when hedge fund corps were falling by the wayside like leaves off a tree, and started his own hedge fund corp with 750 million dollars. Now Paulsen is a multibillionaire because he was the only game in town when all the others were flailing around after they lost their butts from the collapse of Freddie/Fannie. Where did he get so much money? He got it from all the money he stole from the Treasury when he paid off the European banks and investment corps the money they all lost from their illegal derivitives they were swaping around the world. We paid for the bail outs which was a illegal order from the Treasury and Bush and then Obama continued it into his first term.

And what do I hear today is there are some people who want Barney Frank to take John Kerry’s seat in the Senate when Kerry goes to the State Dept. But I thought Barney the old fat queer was going to retire because they changed the district lines from where he’s from and he said there wasn’t any way he could win with that kind of mix of voters. Yeah, you mean voters who wouldn’t vote for a liberal who is also homosexual and has boys living with him dealing pot out the back door.

Little Timmy is just another sorry excuse for a human being.
