At least one student was shot at Price Middle School in Atlanta this morning.
FOX News reported the shooter, a student at the school, was in police custody. A teacher was trampled by students trying to get out of the way.
Reuters reported:

At least one person as wounded on Thursday in a shooting at Price Middle School in southeast Atlanta, local media reports said.

MyFoxAtlanta.com said three suspects were in custody and the school was on lockdown after the shooting, which left two wounded including a 14-year-old.

Police outside the school declined to confirm the shooting to Reuters or to anxious parents gathered behind crime scene tape, and further details were not immediately available.

The 14 year-old victim is alert and speaking to officials at the hospital.

    Is anyone willing to admit that the culture of violence we’re immersing our children in is responsible for these tragedies yet? Between what today’s children are exposed to on television, in video games, through pop music, and within their own family environments, they’ve completely lost touch with reality. They no longer place any value on human life (including their own) and they are incapable of solving even the simplest social problems without resorting to physical aggression. This is not a gun, or even a weapon issue, this is a societal issue, and until we have the guts to face that and deal with it, the violence is going to continue unabated.

    I’m not sure exactly what the solution is, but I know one thing … the fruit never falls far from the tree, and if THESE are the fruits of today’s parents, just imagine what THEIR kids are going to be like, assuming they live to be of childbearing age. You can take guns out of the picture, but these monsters will still be finding ways to kill each other, so it’s time to quit screwing around and do something to break this cycle of violence and restore people’s respect for human life.

    The whole thing sickens me, and watching people use these tragedies to advance a partisan political agenda rather than dealing with the root of the problem INFURIATES me. Our politicians need to know that the blood of America’s children will be on their hands if they keep pushing band-aids like gun control and fail to address the root causes of this violence in a rational, effective way.

    This shooting isn’t going to be hyped up if it’s (as I suspect) black-on-black violence, just like the shooting at the Houstion Community College a week back that we heard nothing about after a few hours. The Liberals need white shooters in order to get their desired guns–those owned by rural/suburban whites, not those possessed by inner city blacks/hispanics. In order to push their agenda, they’ve even invented white shooters like Zimmerman who would have been universally characterized as hispanic in any other situation.

    It IS governments role to protect it’s citizens. It is CONSTITUTIONAL to put a ban on certain weapons. I don’t see why a citizen should be allowed to own a Tec-9, Mac-10, Mac-11, SKS, AK-47, AR-15, MP-4, MP-5, Calico, etc. All you gun nuts think it’s a big game until it’s your child that gets gunned down.

    Since people get killed in prison you should have the right to own an Abrams tank that can effectively fire a round over 4 miles, right? And a very large round I might add. And lots of them.
