White House Says “Congressional Stupidity” Is Damaging Economy

While Obama enjoys his vacation in Hawaii…

A White House official today said “congressional stupidity” was damaging economy.
ABC reported:

With only days to come up with a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff, the White House said “congressional stupidity” was damaging the economy but that an agreement could be reached if Republican leaders don’t get in the way.

President Obama cut his Hawaiian vacation short and headed back to Washington today while the Senate is scheduled to reconvene on Thursday. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said previously that he would give House members a 48-hour notice of any upcoming vote, which means that the soonest the House could consider a bill would be Saturday — just two days before a deadline to make a deal or trigger a rise in taxes and steep budget cuts.

Boehner and other GOP leaders issued a statement today following a conference call saying: “The House has acted on two bills which collectively would avert the entire fiscal cliff if enacted. Those bills await action by the Senate. If the Senate will not approve and send them to the president to be signed into law in their current form, they must be amended and returned to the House.”

While Boehner put the onus on the president and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a White House official used testy language to put the responsibility back on Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“What we need is for the Senate Minority Leader not to block a vote and for Boehner to allow a vote,” a White House official told ABC News. “The hits from our economy are not coming from outside factors they’re coming from congressional stupidity.”

Obama To Spend $7.2 Million of Taxpayer Money For Fiscal Cliff Photo-Op–Ace

Brewster’s Millions is the rules. Spend it all and you win.

Just this week, flying from Hawaii to DC and back, and back again, he’ll have wasted 7.2 million dollars, JUST FOR THE COSTS OF AF1. The total cost will probably be over 12 million.

  • our politicans have a huge overspending problem. now they are telling the american worker that if they won’t give the politicans more money they won’t cut spending. the american worker is being held hostage by the american politican. we have to bribe them to act responsible.

if we let them raise taxes they will only increase spending.

As we move closer to Governmental bankruptcy I just wanted to thank all of those voting Americans who brought us this man whose policy’s, way of life, and beliefs I find to be evil. Please show me where this man, his cabinet, and his party has not done what it could to defeat America culturally, economically, and militarily?

  • JoyO

Our problem is TOO MUCH SPENDING BY DEMOCRATS — NOT TOO LITTLE TAXING BY REPUBLICANS! Our “wise” Progressives in the White House and the Senate have managed to increase our national debt by almost $6 trillion in four years without passing a budget in the same four years!

I feel sorry for all young Americans. They will be the ones who ultimately will have to pay for all of this spending.

[DH: Wait, you’re DHS—not some Wall Street insider.

RB: So you think they are separate agendas? That’s funny. The coming collapse of the U.S. dollar is a done deal. It’s been in the works for years—decades, and this is one of the most important cataclysmic events that DHS is preparing for. I almost think that DHS was created for that purpose alone, to fight Americans, not protect them, right here in America. But that’s not the only reason. There’s the gun issue too.]

When the Democrats ran Congress during Bush’s last four years, the Democrats and the Alinksy Media said it was Bush’s fault for anything that went wrong.

Since the Republicans run Congress during the past two years, the Democrats and the Alinsky Media never say it’s the President’s fault when something goes wrong, now it’s Congress’ fault.

I’m glad there’s no double standard with the Democrats, and the Alinsky Media.

  • ….or, the prick in the WH is purposely damaging out economy. Yeah, I’ll go with that.

The police act stupidly, Congress acts stupidly. blah, blah…..

Obama wants his way or over the cliff. He, and the Democratic Senate, are the obstructionists.
Reid needs to do his job in the Senate, act on those bills.

But luckily the plebs have ‘da most intellejant administration evah, who has solutions like, you know, printing untold amounts of money, raising the debt ceiling without restraint while at the same time refusing to state a budget. All this administration is made of pure 100% geniouses.

Wouldn’t you like to raise your own credit card limit and at the same time spending huge amounts of money you yourself print? Now THAT’S life!

Stupidity? This guy’s got some nerve huh?

Obama’s financial “stupidity” is what helped get us here.

Anyone who knows anything about finances knows that you can’t borrow your way out of debt.

And anyone who knows about debt knows that you’ll eventually run out of credit.

And anyone who knows anything about credit knows that the day you run out of it is the day you won’t be able to borrow any more.

It’s enough to make you really wonder if Obama has ever balanced a check book, let alone read and/or lived up to any loan agreement that he’s signed. Surely Obama has bought a house and/or taken out a substantial loan right? Oh wait, he has no record of doing either does he? That’s right, Obama’s kind of “slow” when it comes to revealing his records now isn’t he?

Meanwhile, you’d also think that Obama would have learned that this kind of financial stupidity is what largely crashed the economy in the first place. Well, that and the financial disaster that was initiated by the Carter/Clinton CRA lending standards (of giving loans out to those who had no credit and no understanding of what their loan agreements entailed).

I mean, what does this guy do with his time besides play golf, shoot hoops, put on an act for the cameras, and have someone setup his lobster dinner reservations?

Surely Obama realizes that even he needs to study and learn something useful while he’s living it up in the WH, Hawaii, or some other expensive/exotic vacation destination.

The problem is out of control spending, and the choomhead who wants to increase deficit spending by billions more. Of course the demoturd controlled senate has yet to pass a budget, in almost 4 years now. This enables the reckless spending.

  • Rachelle

Actually, the stupidity of the American people in electing this idiot is the primary reason we are about to receive what slightly more than half of us richly deserve.

Just how can the Minority Senate Leader block a vote? someone needs to call this WH spokesman (or is it smoke-man) out on this. This is a fabrication. But, McConnell did offer to vote on the WH fiscal cliff plan…. which Majority JackAss Reid declined to let come to the floor for a vote.

Let’s all pray for a Great White Shark, that’ll be one great move in saving America, ya know my meaning ? Congress is not the problem, it is the Democrat/Communist/Progressive party insidiously destroying America from “within !”

The whole point of this exercise has been to provide Obama with a narrative in which he can blame the Republican congress for the vicious recession we are about to experience.

The only way out for the Republicans is to let Obama have his way and then own the results. They are not going to win anything in this debate. The party that controls the White House, the Senate, and the media is going to take this one. The way out is let things hit bottom. Every Republican, every single one, should vote “present”, and let’s see where President Nothing’s leadership takes us.

Don’t Cry for Argentina, Cry for Us

[ The dirty little secret is we have screwed things up so badly for the
next generation – maybe several generations – that it is beyond the
    point of repair.

Economics is not a mystery. There is a ton of historical evidence about
what happens when you try to goose the economy and stave off debt
by printing fiat money – it’s called inflation. Argentina wrote the book
on how to create rampant inflation.

In the 1980s the inflation rate in Argentina ran in the triple digits.
When it hit 12,000% in 1989, suddenly everybody was broke –
even those who worked hard, saved money, and played by the
rules. You have money? Big deal! It doesn’t buy anything! All
of the predictable ugly behavior occurred – stores were looted,
violent protests erupted, and politics devolved into a cesspool
    of corruption.]

f*ck 0bama… all that needs to be passed in the house is this
    – permanent bush tax cuts
    – repeal on obamacare

send that over to the democrats to pass and let them make the choice
of either fiscal cliff… or passage of the bill.

Man, I really hate that pot smokin’, debt rollin, taxes havin’, root of all evil they have up there on Capitol Hill and what not. Why does the government get to take away my hard earned, sweat havin’, American money and pay for gay marriages and stimulates packages. That bi-camel liberal house keeps shuttin’ down our budget cuts, which will shorely have is no long term affect on jobs. That there job destroyer is making discussting decisions stimulating the economy and pumping money into a just post recession economy where the national debt skyrocketed. How dare he use my money for those moochers down at general motors, bunch a free-loafers. His idears are different than mine, hate him. Compromise is an extra anus word in my vocal cab library, as in one i do not need. Demon-crats are sinkin’ this ship, weighed down with the only non-socialized healthcare amongst more developed countries, natural human rights, and innecessary spending on services provided by the govern meant which I take for granted. Cut spending. let the excess float out to sea. with proper stearing of an elected official we can Right this ship using the power of Veto, mountain dew, and a misplaced sense of entitlement and selfishness. Nature selected me because i have a lot of money, dangit Danwin was right and ill be a fool if im left out to drie.

  • Thegoon

@Winston Wolfe, i don’t know do you ever take responsibility for anything? I don’t wanna be Left out of the conversation, but you guys seem all Right. I bet when you fart, you blame it on the dog. Gutless.
