Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told reporters today, “We are not going to to anything,” in regards to the fiscal cliff. The House is expected to pass a bill later today.
The Weekly Standard reported:

Senate majority leader Harry Reid, a Democrat, made his “fiscal cliff” position clear in a press conference today. “We are not going to do anything,” said Reid.

Reid added, “We are not taking up anything they are working on over there.”

The top Democrat in the Senate was explaining his inaction on the House plan, the proposal put forward by Republican John Boehner, the speaker of the House of Representatives. Boehner’s plan is being referred to as ‘Plan B.’

“Boehner described his Plan B as a fallback option to prevent a sweeping tax hike when tax cuts from the administration of President George W. Bush expire at the end of the year. Sources said the Boehner measure also would include extending the current estate tax and alternative minimum tax, two steps sought by Republicans,” reports CNN.

The ‘Plan B’ option tracks closely to a proposal put forward by Democrats earlier this year.

But now Reid won’t even allow the Senate to vote on Boehner’s proposal.

  1. But now Reid won’t even allow the Senate to vote on Boehner’s proposal.

    Not a problem.

Let the country get a taste of what it voted for.

  2. Shut it down. Pronto Tonto.

  3. Everything is going according to plan… nothing to see here… these are not the droids you are looking for… etc… etc… Hey, isn’t American Idol on somewhere?

  4. But yet, the Republicans will be blamed for what Harry Reid does or does not do.

    Fine. Whatever.

    Let it burn. Now.

  5. Agreed. Time for conservatives to play hardball as well. We just need to scream from the rooftops that GOP offered and voted on a plan, and the DNC/Obama/marxist cabal simply refused to have a vote on the proposals.

No more pulling punches. Marxists need to be held accountable. We cannot allow these empty headed leftards to dominate the airwaves and discussions. We must boldly announce that the EMPORER HAS NO CLOTHES!

Let the masses who voted for marxism and corruption squirm under the effects.

  6. Folks we’re already over the fical-cliff, its just a matter of how hard we want to hit the bottom from this point on…..Libs love playing word-games with public

  7. Who was being called the “do nothing congress” for 2 years? Notice the word ‘congress’ and no the word ‘Senate’ in those attacks on ‘congress’?

  8. #6 Decembe ponderon commented: “…how hard we want to hit the bottom from this point on…”

Critically thinking on that question, I say the sudden stop is not going to be bad at all considering we are 3′ from the bottom now.

  9. This is hardly unexpected. The Dems are going to get their tax raise on everyone come hell or high water. Of course there is still the little problem with the House having to authorize any hike in the national debt.

  10. This guy is worthless. What do these people do on any given workday–attend meaningless meetings and give pointless speeches to 4 people in attendance and 10 watching on CSPAN. Won’t vote on this, no budget—- Why are we paying these people?

  11. And I for one finally must recommend to all Americans, we stray from the usual selection of presidential candidates, look to what we all look at anyway, well at least 30% of us, look to the models of “Bad Idea T-Shirts”!

Any would do. If I am going to be screwd by our President, I would rather think it is a “Bad Idea T-Shirts” than an Obama or Hillary Clinton.

Petition the White House for “Bad Idea T-Shirts” For President. A 3 year primary with those sound bites and short news stories would for once be worth watching.

  12. Can anyone answer this question? Since when did our most important (so they tell us) financial and future tax and revenue issues boil down to ONLY TWO INDIVIDUALS?
Boner and Obama with some GOP and DEMOCRAT underlings saying what they will accept to vote on?

What ever happened to the OTHER 534 elected legislooters? Did this last election dismiss 534 other elected officials?

What happened to the conference committees where a House bill and a Senate bill were combined and put on the floor?

PUT THE BILLS ON THE FLOOR BOTH HOUSES!

Since at least the historic election of 2010 when the Swamp Queen was landed with the TP Hook, the old two house and executive administration of government has been unceremoniously done away with.

Let government work Harry and Boner.

  13. Dems blaming Boehner….Republicans blaming Obama….when is Harry Reid going to be held accountable? I’m calling both of my Senators (democrats) and tell them that “dirty Harry” is going to be the end of them….if our taxes go up. Hey Baucus and Tester…..can you hear me now? Just because Harry won’t let you vote….doesn’t mean you’re off the hook.

  14. “Since when did our most important (so they tell us) financial and future tax and revenue issues boil down to ONLY TWO INDIVIDUALS?” … my question EXACTLY! You know how they drip, drip, drip and eventually, whatever it is, just becomes the ‘norm’? Yea.

  15. @12 Sam Stone -

You are correct when you say that our tax and financial future is dependent on just two individuals. You are, however, incorrect in who those two individuals are. The second person in the equation is Harry Reid, not Boehner. Obama and Reid – “our way or no way at all.”

Neither are interested in negotiating or reaching an agreement that most can agree on. They WILL have their way or else.

  16. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Own it oh-blah blah…….

GWB was forced to own 9-11 after 9 months in office……this is the occupant that won – lock, stock, and barrel. 4 years. its all his and the left.

And God willing, Boehner will be out of a job to.

The Republicans need to be as extreme right as the left is extreme left. Its about damned time.

  17. And Harry will refuse to allow Feinstein’s anti-gun bill to come to the floor of the Senate, too…right?

  18. Let
    It
    Burn.
