Benghazi Review Puts Blame Squarely on State Department for Systemic Failures

An independent review of the Benghazi terrorist attacks put blame on the State Department.
But the review recommended no disciplinary action now.

The AP reported, via Free Republic:

An independent panel charged with investigating the deadly Sept. 11 attack in Libya that killed a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans has concluded that systematic management and leadership failures at the State Department led to “grossly” inadequate security at the mission in Benghazi.

“Systematic failures and leadership and management deficiencies at senior levels within two bureaus of the State Department resulted in a Special Mission security posture that was inadequate for Benghazi and grossly inadequate to deal with the attack that took place,” the panel said.

The report singled out the Bureau of Diplomatic Security and the Bureau of Near East Affairs for criticism, saying there appeared to be a lack of cooperation and confusion over protection at the mission in Benghazi, a city in Eastern Libya that was relatively lawless after the revolution that toppled Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi.

Despite those failures, the Accountability Review Board determined that no individual officials ignored or violated their duties and recommended no disciplinary action now. But it also said poor performance by senior managers should be grounds for disciplinary recommendations in the future.

So the State Department is to blame but no one violated or ignored their duties.
Only the government could release such a nonsensical report and expect to be taken seriously.

Now who didn’t know this and it goes further up to the very top. As I see it, the president is in charge and his job is to protect the American people and on 9/11/12, of all days.

Hillary needs to be questioned immediately after all her illnesses are over. SARC

“Visions of sugar plums danced in their heads,” with santabarama coming to town the betrayal in benghazi is an inconvenient incident that many chose to ignore. clinging to the belief that obama is some how above the charlatans [as described by charlatans] of the past is more acceptable than the hairy truth. [Barack Obama said: “I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.”] ob needed another four to even the score……
making a list checking it twice…but in the polar opposite of what santa does.

OK. So now tell us what our so call “Commander in Chief” ( or as The One would say “Command AND Chief”) was doing during the 7 hour attack.

So, according to the report – it’s all squarely laid on those in Benghazi as being at fault. And they’re dead or sequestered.

Hmmm…………….creative obscurement. Satisfies the public’s need to see some placing of a miniscule amount of blame, cleverly avoids any mention or reference to Obama’s weapons transfers, the huge doublecross and the Ambassador’s true purpose in being there in the first place. Does this not define ‘diplomacy’ ? Believable obfuscation? NOT.

“..was doing during the 7 hour attack.” probably having his pillows plumped.

I could not find anywhere in the report where the BUCK is much less where it STOPS.

Once again, the obama administration gets away with something far worse that the Watergate cover-up, which caused Nixon to resign or lying about the sex scandal which caused Bill Clinton to be impeached (but not convicted for political reasons). So the obama administration gets a strongly worded letter for the file, and gets re-elected.

  • Bitter Clinger

@squeaky: Sadly, I fear you are correct. Time for a coup d’etat!

  • Where’s the MF money Jon?

And the buck stops with……not Hillary….not Barack….someone else.

  • ALL_IS_LOST

But does it state why the failures occurred? Incompetence like this in this particular locale must have been ordered….although one should never underestimate government’s ability to be incompetent.

Wouldn’t it have been nice if the President gave as much time, energy, and policy statements about Benghazi as he did a school shooting?

This is all a joke. It has to be.
The crime is bad enough, but the cover up is by far worse. And Obama gets a pass, again.
