Catherine at a St. Louis tea party rally in 2009.
Several years ago while on a business trip to Asia my twin brother Joe met a lovely woman from China. Catherine lived in Shenzhen, the modern mainland city outside of Hong Kong. Catherine was raised in a rural community not far from Wuhan. Her family was not rich. They did not have indoor plumbing. They lived in a small home, raised chickens and farmed a small plot of land. When Catherine was old enough and brave enough she left her rural community and moved to Shenzhen. She found a job and lived in a tiny apartment.
Joe and Catherine were married in 2008 and then Catherine moved to America. She went to night school for English lessons and worked at a Sam’s Club, not because she needed to but because she wanted to. She wanted to contribute.
This morning my sister-in-law Catherine will be sworn in as a US citizen in downtown St. Louis.
She’s very excited.

Dana gave Catherine a wonderful shout-out today on her radio show.
Thank you, Dana!
Congratulations, Catherine.
And welcome to America.
UPDATE: It’s official.
Catherine and 51 others took the oath this morning in downtown St. Louis.
Here’s Catherine with friends Charlie and Rachel before the ceremony.
