Obama Releases Thanksgiving Message – Forgets to Mention God & Asks Americans to Unite Behind Him

It’s an Obama world…
Barack Obama released a Thanksgiving Day message Thursday.
He forgot to thank God. He forgot to mention God.

But he does mention “freedom of religion” even though his administration is being sued by the Catholic Church.

This is the fourth straight year Obama’s Thanksgiving message does not include God.

More… President Obama also asked Americans to unite in support for Obama.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to live on the dole

Barack Obama, seeking to swell the ranks of democrats and continuing his plot to expand dependency, is marketing the US as a place immigrants can come and enjoy the fruits of the toil of others!

Local lawmakers are fuming over an Obama administration policy promoting welfare and EBT benefits for immigrants, with a “welcome” package and promotional website that encourage new arrivals to take advantage of the nation’s generous government largesse.

“I think it’s a complete outrage that we’re encouraging people coming here to get on public assistance,” said state Rep. Shaunna O’Connell, a Taunton Republican who has fought for EBT reform. “We should be encouraging people to be self-sufficient. These programs are rampant with fraud and abuse.”

The fight over welfare for recent immigrants is unfolding in Washington, where a group of GOP senators has sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack demanding answers as to why food stamps and other welfare benefits are being promoted to new immigrants. The agency’s Welcome toUSA.gov website includes a comprehensive handbook directing immigrants on how to obtain food stamps, Medicare, disability and other taxpayer-funded aid.

“The federal government now is giving packets to people when they come to the United States … that promote welfare benefits,” said U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, an Alabama Republican and ranking member of the Senate budget committee. “That is contrary to law and sound policy.”

Learned recently about Erik Metaxas and his biography of Bonhoeffer, “Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy”. Metaxas also gave “one of the best speeches at a National Prayer Breakfast” this year. Our time is at least, if not more, similarly dangerous…

“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” -Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Each of us, especially Christians, must decide.

President’s Thanksgiving Proclamation Violates Separation of Church & State
    By Tom Barrett
    [email protected]

I was surprised to read the following Thanksgiving Proclamation by the President of the United States, because it clearly violates the principle of the separation of church and state:

“Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor – and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”

“Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be – That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation – for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war – for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed – for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted – for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

“And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions – to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually – to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed – to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shown kindness onto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord – To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us – and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

“Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
    “George Washington

President George Washington was not concerned with violating the separation of church and state, because it did not exist. It was not (and is not) in the Constitution. It was not a law passed by Congress (nor has any such law been passed since his time). It was an invention of an activist court, improperly interpreting the Constitution.

Mr. Washington expressed the feelings of the people of the United States. And I believe that the majority of the people in the country would still identify with this Proclamation, in spite of the continuous attempts at brain-washing them by the Liberal media.

As I read through this Proclamation, I remembered that almost every president throughout our nation’s history has expressed similar thoughts – and not just at Thanksgiving. Most of our presidents have been men who recognized that without the hand of Almighty God on our nation, we would be like most nations on this planet – lost and without direction.

Unfortunately, much has changed in the United States in recent years. We have been told that God is no longer welcome in our public life. Expressing faith and belief in the Word of God has been deemed “hate speech.” And our president has declared that we are not a Christian nation.

We would do well to remember that this exceptional country was founded as a Christian nation, and that it has been abundantly blessed because of a few important things:

    1) We have acknowledged God’s hand and blessing on us, and have been thankful to Him for that.
    2) We have sent more missionaries to spread the Gospel than any nation in history.
    3) And we have blessed Israel, as God has commanded us in His Word to do.

If we will turn our faces toward God again – and choose leaders who trust and believe in the Bible – the Lord will bless us again. God’s word, as given in II Chronicles 7:14 is as true today as it was when it was written thousands of years ago…

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

UPDATE To my own comment #51. Barry issued a Proclamation as well as a Radio/Video address. The Proclamation mentions God 2x, but doesn’t quite thank Him for all that we have. The radio address is where he only says “but for the grace of God go I.” Very weird. “I sure am glad I’m not the starving slob down the street.” Oh, that’s thankful to God.

  • Look-Out

Peggy got me to actually listen to the video…she said God was mentioned twice.

I did hear one mention of God (3:00mark) “there but for the grace of God”….

If there was another mention, I missed it in the two times I listened to the entire tape. Jim is right in his statement that BHO did not give thanks to God. Instead, BHO said we can give thanks for “each other.”

Not surprisingly, we all make mistakes.

I wonder if BHO’s brother who lives in extreme poverty in Kenya gives thanks for him. Or is there some “other” he thanks?

BTW, re my earlier postings on this thread…I’ve been thinking about Bonhoeffer’s involvement in the plot to assassinate Hitler. As a Christian, I can’t automatically accept it as the right thing to do. But I also cannot accept that it wasn’t the right thing for Bonhoeffer to do. That’s between him and our God. To take another man’s life is a serious thing. To not trust God in ALL things is a serious thing too. Such an act demands tremendous prayer and certainty that it is truly God who is speaking to us. Even the most devout can be mistaken.

why would obama THANK G-D…his god is him…he is just plain evil … why would he say anything about the ONE TRUE G-D when he believes in abortion and murdered FOUR AMERICANS IN COLD BLOOD…HE’S A CRIMINAL WHO IS A TOTAL TRAITOR…

Look-Out. See my #53. There are 2 statements related to Th-giving this year. I was confused, but the headline that there is NO mention of God at all isn’t quite right for either statement. Thanks for listening and double checking. The issue seems to center on his not thanking God or giving more thanks to The State.

Here is the proclamation (which is NOT what Jim posted): http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/11/22/presidential-proclamation-thanksgiving-day-2012

    Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Peggy. I’ll now read your link. Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you too!

Obama thinks he IS god. So when he talks about himself, he is talking about god.

President Obama forgot to mention God? In the digital age, how dare you be such a liar and a hack?

Here are two excerpts from the 2012 Thanksgiving Proclamation that clearly say that you are a liar:

Paragraph 1: “On Thanksgiving Day, Americans everywhere gather with family and friends to recount the joys and blessings of the past year. This day is a time to take stock of the fortune we have known and the kindnesses we have shared, grateful for the God-given bounty that enriches our lives….”

Paragraph 4: “… Let us spend this day by lifting up those we love, mindful of the grace bestowed upon us by God and by all who have made our lives richer with their presence….”
