Maine’s GOP Chairman Accuses Black Voters of Election Crimes

Maine’s GOP chairman accused black voters of election crimes in an interview this week.

That was either a very brave or very stupid statement.
The chairman offered no proof to support his claims.

Chairman Charlie Webster alleged that hundreds of black voters were voting in rural districts to the surprise of local residents.
The Press Herald reported, via Free Republic:

Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster is once again alleging possible voting irregularities, this time claiming that groups of unknown black people showed up in some rural towns to vote on Election Day.

Webster made the claim in a wide-ranging, post-election interview this week with Don Carrigan of WCSH-TV.

“In some parts of rural Maine, there were dozens, dozens of black people who came in and voted on Election Day,” he said. “Everybody has a right to vote, but nobody in (these) towns knows anyone who’s black. How did that happen? I don’t know. We’re going to find out.”

When Carrigan pressed Webster on where it happened, Webster provided no specifics or proof of his claims, but said the party would investigate further.

When asked about the issue in an interview Wednesday with the Portland Press Herald, Webster again refused to provide specifics.

He said his point is not that the new voters were black, but that they were not recognized by town officials.

“I’m not talking about 15 or 20. I’m talking hundreds,” he said Wednesday. “I’m not politically correct and maybe I shouldn’t have said these voters were black, but anyone who suggests I have a bias toward any race or group, frankly, that’s sleazy.”

We see that the Black Caucus in the House selected a new leader for the next Congress. . .Marcia Fudge. . .why can’t we create a “White Caucus”. . .if allowing groups to come together because of the color of their skin, why can’t White Congresspersons band together?

There are wide swathes of rural Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine that do not have many minority residents of any stripe – some areas none at all. When I first moved up here 15 years or so ago there was exactly one black family in the entire Upper Valley area of Vermont/New Hamphshire. These days there are a few more than that, but in much of the state the scenario the gentleman from Maine describes would absolutely raise eyebrows.

  • jpkalishek

conversely, if hundreds of white folks showed up in a nearly 100% black area and voted republican I’d be rather suspicious too. Of course if that were to happen then maybe more dems would be for voter ID and work at ways to eliminate fraud.

  • Marcy

I hope he gets proof and then has a press conference and a lawsuit ready.

  • john03

I guess after they got through voting five or six times in Philly and Cleveland they headed up there to vote too.

  • donh

Way to play right into the hands of the Chris Matthews of this world and hand them mock joke material on silver platter….It should be well known by now that large enclaves of Somali Muslims have been imported into the August / Lewiston / Auburn interior of Maine. WHY weren’t your polling places prepared for vote fraud ? Stop running your polling stations like a church bean supper. Stop staffing the tables with naive teenager volunteers…..RECORD everything HAVE LAWYERS watching.

  • Jeff

widespread voter fraud is a myth. the only two people arrested for voter fraud in 2012 were REPUBLICANS.

Voter Fraud is an idiotic way to steal an election– it requires tens, possibly hundreds of thousands, of people to be part of a nationwide conspiracy yet somehow there’s no confessions, no concrete evidence? There is absolutely no logic to it.

Republicans AND Democrats both engage in fraud relating to elections in a myriad of other ways but VOTER FRAUD LIKE WHAT IS BEING ALLEGED HERE DOES NOT EXIST.

Voter ID is a scam designed to decrease Democrats and keep Republicans in power. If you’re comfortable with that, fine, but please understand its intent. The people creating these laws sure have been. If you’re unaware of the governors and congress people stating EXPLICITLY that VOTER ID LAWS ARE DESIGNED TO KEEP REPUBLICANS IN POWER, you are getting your news from the wrong sources.

  • Paz

The biggest fraud was in OH where BHO got 99% of the vote in some areas. I expect that from Philthy, not anywhere in OH.

OhmyGod, Jeff. You’re DELUSIONAL. Actually, I think you know you’re lying.

  • Stephana

In some areas of ohio they got 100% of the voters to vote. That is a real trick since some are dead and others are incarcerated. Of course this only happened in the hood.

  • Patty

Point being? ID’s must be the most relevant part of our voting process. When we have an attorney general who doesn’t want this and a president who doesn’t either. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET.

The woman directly in front of me, in a state where there is Voter ID’s, SHE VOTED AND DIDN’T HAVE AN ID FOR THE STATE SHE WAS VOTING IN AND LIVED IN ANOTHER STATE.

Nothing is going to come of this because we have had years to fix this problem and everyone is sitting on their thumbs and of course HOLDER.

  • Patty

yes, in PA. there were counties, TALKING COUNTIES, zero votes for Romney.
    ZERO, NADA, ZIP!!NOT ONE.

  • Joanne

I remember in a city I lived in, there was one black family at one time, now there are thousands, but the people of that town would know whether or not those black people voting were residents. How did they manage to vote if they weren’t listed to vote in that area?

Jeff is a liar, and does not exist. How’s that!

  • burt

After living in Chicago for 20 years I can tell you voting fraud is absolutely a fact of life!

  • Bob

I would have just called the cops

  • Look-Out

Yep, Jeff. Those Republicans were at it again this year…

You obviously heard all those complaints.. every time a Dem chose Obama for president, that machine would show the vote going for Romney!

Is that why you’re so out of sorts, Jeffie, because Romney’s our new president? You’re SO right…they’ve managed AGAIN to “keep Republicans in power”!!

  • http://thegatewaypundit Bob

AHHHH LOL you jackasses tryin to make excuses. HE LOST GET OVER IT

  • http://thegatewaypundit Bob

OBAMA WON FACT CHECK GET OVER IT

  • stuart

After living in the Chicago area for nearly 20 years (multiple localities) I can attest to the fact that not only voter fraud, but voter extortion is a fact of life.
If machine politics were patented the dems would own the patent. Doubt me? Then name me ONE Republican machine.

  • http://thegatewaypundit Bob

There is no voter fraud MITT JUST LOST

  • Time

Time to take this all the way, break it wide open and bring down the frauds that implemented this crime against the American people. Every last one that participated in this crime, and voted knowing well what they were doing and the people behind pushing this agenda should be brought to justice, arrested and tried. If we do not arrest them and place fines, prison time/ shut them down it will grow, infest every area of this nation like it is doing. We are feeding this monster/ serpant and it is growing enormous, bigger then anyone can grasp. Before long it will be so huge that no one will be able to control it, bring it down and stop it. We need to STOP it now….Our liberty, freedoms are at stake..

  • kato

Jeff is probably right. They’re not dishonest, just stupid and incompetent.

  • Tabby

    Jeff,
MANY Democrats have been arrested & convicted of voter fraud you idiot! In fact many who helped Obama get into office last year are in jail today! Do a little research! Have you never heard of ACORN??? Try some of the links at ObamaVoterFraud.com & TrueTheVote.com . A myth.. Good grief, free your mind from the George Soros Media Matters Propaganda machine!

  • kato

Don’t worry about Jeff. He’s the blogging equivalent of a seminar caller.

But like many liberals, he may believe his own lies. Liberals lie to themselves as much as they lie to you and me.

  • Linda

Voter fraud is in both parties and affects both. But in this election the fraud was so widespread, so blatant and so organized that it’s insanity to claim it doesn’t exist. As Americans we cannot allow this to go unchallenged and get swept under the rug AGAIN as AG Criminal Holder did in ’08. A national recount is absurd – that’s not going to happen. But each county where the most egregious cases occurred (OH, FL, CO, etc) those citizens need to get together and start hammering their local officials to investigate, charge and prosecute these people. If they get away with it this time, when it is so freaking obvious, we’ll never have another true election in this country again. I stopped an Obama supporter in their tracks the other day who mentioned Bush vs Gore 2000, and I said so you’re okay with people saying 12 years from now that Obama stole this election? We need to stop this now.

Jeff, you said: “Voter ID is a scam designed to decrease Democrats and keep Republicans in power.” No, Jeff, your argument and your position define the real scam, because you want to ensure illegal voting and stolen elections.

Voter ID is the only way to keep elections honest. I can’t cash a check with some form of identification. Why should voting require less?

The only ones that argue differently, do so to ensure fraud. The argument is that it somehow holds a segment of our society to a standard that they can’t attain. Really?

You can’t get checked into a hospital without ID. You can’t cash a welfare check without an ID. You can’t enroll a child in school without an ID. The list is ongoing.

Jeff #7 Are you insane? Then why post stupid things like ……….

“Voter ID is a scam designed to decrease Democrats and keep Republicans in power.”

It sounds stupid. It is stupid. Can you hear yourself?????

What part of voter ID decreases Democrats and helps Republicans?

There is not one Democrat on the planet that believes that Voter ID is a scam. It is the most absurb lie I think I have ever heard someone say with a straight face and I have witnessed many. You are lying and I am sick of hearing something that dumb repeated.

Forgot to mention I am not still searching for the meaning of “is”.

I commented to my wife that the precinct we vote in, ~1square mile area (our subdivision) jumped in it’s black population on election day too. I would have guessed that maybe 10-15% of the familiess in our neighborhood are black but it was easy 40-50% on electionday. Now that could be due to absentee voting or other thngs but there was no doubt the black population was out in force on election day in my area.

  • labman57

Republican election officials in numerous states had implemented safeguards to ensure that ethnic minorities would be discouraged or prevented from exercising their constitutional right to vote.

Despite their concerted efforts, these demographic groups represented a significant proportion of the turnout, contributing to Obama’s victory. Ergo, election fraud must have occurred.

  • Simsalabim

I saw two different ‘urbanites’ trying to vote in my polling place without an i.d., utility bill displaying their address or anything to prove where they live.

Thankfully, both the Democrat and Republican judge rejected the two brainless individuals.

  • paul52

“Jeff” is a fraud. 59 Philly precincts voted 100% for Barry. Statistically impossible. Cleveland had turnout in da hood of 140% in some areas. Allen West had a 4400 vote count turnaround in 35 minutes in one Florida County. Wale up, little Jeffie.

For a long time, I used to vote in a rural area that my family was from but where I hadn’t lived in years. I doubt may people there knew who I was, but I was registered there and there was nothing illegal about it. The question is whether these black people were registered. If they were, what’s the problem? The fact that this bozo wont say where it happens makes it stink to me.

  • PaulJecho

Rather there is, or there is not, voter fraud can be made a nonissue by having a state mandatory picture ID requirement to vote. The excuse that the ID requirement would promote ethnic bias, impact the poor and the elderly is an outright lie promoted by those that wish to commit fraud. There are programs in most states that offer free picture ID’s to legal residents who cannot afford them. For the very few states that do not offer them, requirements at the federal level would correct that situation should that state wish to receive Fed Monies. This was brought up by the UN election observers who were dumbfounded that such a requirement was not in place.

  • kat

The story I got is that Charlie Summers pledged to investigate possible voter fraud by minorities that he had been informed of.

A good friend of mine whose FIL was running for office in Maine told of busloads of University of Maine students being dropped off to vote in the neighboring towns. I’m sure these students voted numerous times. Her FIL lost by 60 votes.

Voter fraud is certainly alive and well in Maine, even if the racial allegations are proved false.
