FBI Agents Were Outraged That Obama Decided to Delay Petraeus’ Resignation Until After the Election

Apparently, FBI agents were outraged that Obama decided to delay the resignation of David Petraeus until after the election.

Newsmax reported, via Power Line:

At some point after Petraeus was sworn in as CIA director on Sept. 6, 2011, the woman broke up with him. However, Petraeus continued to pursue her, sending her thousands of emails over the last several months, raising even more questions about his judgment.

FBI agents on the case expected that Petraeus would be asked to resign immediately rather than risk the possibility that he could be blackmailed to give intelligence secrets to foreign intelligence agencies or criminals. In addition, his pursuit of the woman could have distracted him as the CIA was giving Congress reports on the attack on the Benghazi consulate on Sept. 11.

Still, the White House, with concurrence by the FBI and Justice Department, held off on asking for Petraeus’ resignation until after the election. His resignation occurred three days after the election, avoiding the possibility that Obama’s ill-fated appointment of Petraeus could become an issue in the election.

FBI agents on the case were aware that such a decision had been made to hold off on forcing him out until after the election and were outraged.

“The decision was made to delay the resignation apparently to avoid potential embarrassment to the president before the election,” an FBI source says. “To leave him in such a sensitive position where he was vulnerable to potential blackmail for months compromised our security and is inexcusable.”

another “perfumed” general disgraced. His greatness in the battlefield is greatly exaggerated. Yes I am ex-military, and its a disgraced all these general/admirals have become politicians at the expense of there troops.

Guess the FBI hasn’t noticed Hussein doesn’t give a flip about national security or anything else that protects American interests.

He’s not the first, nor will he be last, man to succumb to a femme fatale.

Just remember, it was Petraeus who first scolded Terry Jones about burning a koran around the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Now it was Martin Dempsey who called Jones about the so called vid. These generals have no respect for the 1st amendment. Payback is a beetch.

As a side note to the Obama Administration’s latest debacle – might as well give the Taliban and Al-Qaida Afghanistan. Who wants to be the parents of the last man killed in this mess?

Afghanistan is over. No leadership in the White House and none at the top in the CIA or military.

I hope she was worth it!
His reputation has been destroyed by the other woman.

This explaines why he was so quiet about Benghazi, I would have expected him to more forcfully defend the CIA in the aftermath of that disaster. He still should appear before Congress and ‘splain wtf happened..

I’m betting a nickel this game changer story was leaked to a journOlist somewhere and was promptly covered up / sat on until after the election.

Perhaps it risked national security, but it wouldn’t matter politically. Obama cheated his way into the Whitehouse, like any good communist would. I thought Petraeus was beyond reproach anyhow….just ask bg.

These squealing FBI piglets are just as culpable. Don’t they know how to dial a telephone or send email or send out a carrier pigeon? With all the damaging leaks of national security information that have occurred and been plastered on the front page of the New York Slimes and the Washington Compost, there is no excuse for at least ONE of these “outraged patriots” to have leaked it before the election…NO EXCUSE.

I dunno if how much of this he did or didn’t do, but militarily Petraeus was AWESOME… The Hero of Baghdad was the first general since McArthur (Korea) to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in such a way, turning an almost impossible disaster into American victory

and if this news came out before the election you think the Obama Phone vote would hang up on him ? ? ? …> http://youtu.be/xr201FqTP4w

Obama was the one blackmailing him.

    #14 Reaganite Republican-

Let me ask you a question. How many of those hearts and minds of the Iraq’s citizens are still on the side of the US? Just as with the freeloaders in this country, once the candy bars, balls and dollar bills are gone, and the US has moved on, who do you think those won over Iraq citizen’s are supporting now? I would say that being threatened with the removal of your head is a very strong deterent to supporting any American or American policies/ideas.

Obama insured that he snatched defeat from any gains we may have made in Iraq when he pulled every last American troop out of the country.

Hate to admit it, but I guess the liberals were right when they called him General David BetrayUS.

Oh no! Listening to radio and just heard that Obama won Florida. The good news is Nate Silver got that one wrong. I was worried he would correctly predict all 50 states. He only got 49 right! Hahaha. If he would have had a perfect score, we never would hear the end of it!
