A day after Hurricane Sandy blasted the East Coast FOX News reported that one New York Subway station was 50 feet under water.
David Lee Miller was reporting from the South Ferry Subway Station:

The Star Jet roller coaster is under water in New Jersey.

The Star Jet roller coaster in Seaside Heights is hanging into the Atlantic Ocean this morning. (Star Ledger)

  1. One of my children loves New York City. I don’t even like to visit the place. I always have visions of being trapped there with no way out, sort of like in The Stand.

  2. Are we going to see CNN reporters crying this go around like the whole thing is Bush’s fault and the inept federal government.

Let’s see Anderson Cooper manufacture some crocodile tears.

  3. There have to be people that are still trapped in elevators and many homeless/poor people that have been killed that haven’t yet been found.

Yeah, I noticed that we heard about “mandatory evacuations” ordered by Bloomberg but not a single word about where the legions of homeless and those too poverty stricken to evacuate were expected to go – or even went.

Bloomberg has tried for years to get rid of the homeless in NYC – ship them elsewhere, confine them on a boat in the harbor and so forth. I certainly hope that he hasn’t let this hurricane do a little “clean up” of his fair city.

You also have to wonder where the thousands who live underground in the abandoned “underworld” of NYC fared if all the tunnels flooded.

  5. Prayers for the poor souls who were lost and for comfort for their families.

  6. Catholic charities are helping the victims while Obama wages war on Catholics.

  7. My sympathies with all the people adversely affected by this storm and out upon by the Nanny-state governments that are NY, NJ, fedgov.

But for Bloomberg and his ilk I say this,

  8. Shelters were opened Sunday in NYC and there was no residency reqirement – just show up and bed, food, etc. was provided. Some people choose not to leave low lying areas and there was nothing more that could be done. The police did not go around with guns drawn and forced people out of dangerous spots. Everything that could be done to save people was done.

Godspeed and prayers for all concerned whereever Sandy touched
down one way or another (rain, floods, ice, snow, sand, fire & total
    devastation)..

i blame Barry Dunham Soetoro Barack Hussein Obama
(by any other factual, fictional, or ‘composite’ names)..

Obama lied, up jumped the tide..

and then there’s the global warming
    swindle
, but alas & alack, i digress..

  10. how’d you like to be the subway worker who has to into the flooded tunnels and clean out the millions of drowned rats?
-and think of all the rodents too

  11. Don’t worry, Bloomie has hired a fleet of limos to get his bankster buddies to work.

  12. At least the OccuBags finally got a bath.

    Too soon?

  13. Granny, there were 20+ shelters set up around NYC for those asked to evacuate. Evacuations were NOT ‘mandatory’ and if you did not hear about where evacuees were expected to go, that’s your own mistake as that information was clearly laid out during EVERY Bloomberg update.

There are not thousands of people living underground here. Homeless people were never sent to live on boats in the harbor.

It can be tough to accept that your worldview is full of misinformation but that’s the unfortunate situation most of you commenters find yourselves in.

  15. Hey Jim (or anyone who can answer my confusion) I just paid $2.99 a gallon for gas in Union, MO… what the heck is going on with gas prices? Is this a ‘normal’ or common occurrence right before an election? One would think, because of the devastation from Sandy, as well as our current state of affairs in this Nation, that they would not of dropped almost a full dollar in about a month! ??

Tempers flare in NJ city where thousands stranded

“Tempers flared Wednesday morning outside City Hall as some residents complained the city was slow to get food and other supplies out to the stranded.”

I guess MSNBC will apologize to Romney and say he was doing a good deed as the residents need the food from his drive.

  17. #15 Jeff -

Perhaps you are not as aware of the underclass of your city as you think you are. Putting the homeless on floating shelters is an idea that goes back quite some ways. Even made the NYT. http://www.nytimes.com/1987/10/10/nyregion/hra-urges-using-ships-as-shelters.html some years back and was actually done for a bit in the 90s. There have also been programs to ship them out of town over the years.

As far as not hearing about Bloomberg’s plan, I am blessed to live here in the hinterlands far, FAR away from the cesspool. Bloomberg only rarely appears on my TV screen. I’m sure that everything was handled just perfectly, as things always are in NY.

  18. OT

And then there is this: Ot

This one is really hard to believe, even for the most biased so-called “news network” in the nation.

MSNBC on Tuesday totally trashed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for collecting food and supplies at a storm relief rally in Ohio to be sent to victims of Hurricane Sandy (video follows with transcript and Commentary.

Video and more follows on site.

After introducing his Obama-supporting guests Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Lehigh professor James Peterson, host Martin Bashir played a clip of the President speaking at the Red Cross headquarters in Washington Tuesday.

When the clip concluded, Bashir said, “Mayor Reed, so the Red Cross knows what it’s doing. Did he, did you detect perhaps a subtle dig there on Mr. Romney who spent today going against the guidelines established by the Red Cross and holding a campaign rally in Ohio that was dressed up like a charity drive collecting food and other supplies when the Red Cross expressly asked people not to do that?”

Imagine that. A presidential candidate who gives millions of dollars a year to charity does a storm relief event in Ohio, and an MSNBC anchor is disgusted by it because the Red Cross would prefer people donating cash.

Yet according to the Washington Post:

The stop was billed as a “storm relief” event, and attendees were asked to bring non-perishable foods and other items for those affected by the storm. Long white tables to one side of the cavernous James S. Trent Arena were piled high with flashlights, batteries, diapers, toothbrushes, mini-deodorants, fleece blankets, cereal, toilet paper and canned goods.

Two large TV screens at the front of the venue bore the logo of the American Red Cross and the message: “Sandy: Support the Relief Effort. Text ’REDCROSS’ to 90999 to make a $10 donation.”
