A year already………
Seems it went way to fast. Thanks for the reminder Jim.
Makes the days problems seem a lot less important all of the sudden.

I never knew her, even at a distance. Yet I send a message to her family and friends who should think of her eternal spirit as rejoicing with myriad patriots through the ages. What could it be like, rubbing shoulders with George and Martha Washington, the farmer soldiers at Valley Forge, and the heroes and heroines of dozens of conflicts and challenges overcome by Deity on behalf of our Republic. Well done, Ruth, well done Patriot Dreamer:
“THAT PATRIOT DREAMS WILL COME TO PASS”
How sad that we so rarely pray
In gratitude for those before,
Whose struggles brought us to this day,
Whose sufferings opened freedom’s door.
They gave their God their every breath,
To seek for freedom as He asked.
But now we face our fathers’ tests,
That patriots’ dreams will come to pass.
Yet some now speak of wars we’ve won,
And take their ease without a thought
Of struggles that too soon have come,
With enemies our fathers fought.
For tyranny but sleeps a while
Until, refreshed, it comes again,
To mock the free with death’s dark smile,
And dare us fight until we win.
Our Deity asks us to learn of them
Whose blood has nourished freedom’s tree,
For in similitude of Him,
They gave their lives for liberty.
Let us now fight, while yet the light
Shines bright from valiant heroes past,
Until we shine with Our Lord’s might,
That patriot’s dreams shall come to pass.

This song by Wayne Watson has consoled many people as they pass through the dark valley of sickness and death with a loved one. I have listened to it frequently in the past few years. Perhaps God is beginning to call His people home.
I was given the unique opportunity of holding my mentor of 33 years moments after he suffered a fatal heart attack leaving work on September 14, just a few weeks ago. As I tried in vain to revive him, he lay smiling, eyes open, staring into Heaven. The last thing he did as he left a meeting on his way home that Friday afternoon was to witness to some of his coworkers, something he did often during his 52 years working for the company. We always told each other to “save me a seat” when we went to meetings because inevitably one of us would have to stop for coffee or to make a “pit stop”. The last thing I said to him as I released him when the EMS folks took over was, “Save me a seat”. It wouldn’t surprise me to find that he took the seat next to Ruth when he arrived in Heaven.
Some day we will all be Home Free.
