Stunner… Radio Host Who Poked Fun of Islamists Is Shot Dead Near His Home

The Hurriyet Daily reported, via Religion of Peace:
Gunmen assassinated a well-known comedian and musician who poked fun at Al-Qaeda linked Shebab insurgents in the Somali capital Mogadishu, police and colleagues said Tuesday.
Warsame Shire Awale, a famous composer who had worked with Somalia’s national army band before joining Radio Kulmiye as a drama producer and comedian, was attacked by two gunmen late on Monday.
“Gunmen killed him… we are investigating the matter and the killers will be brought to justice,” police chief Ahmed Hassan Malin told reporters.
“Two men armed with pistols shot and wounded him near his house in Waberi district, he died shortly after in hospital,” said Abdi Mohamed Haji, a colleague at Radio Kulmiye.

I had a long back and forth with a guy over at P&P. He felt we didn’t need a big navy but could reason with the Islamists.
I pointed out that we can never reason with these people. They prefer a religion that allows them to be thugs, treat women like cattle and react violently when they feel like it under the guise of “religious rule”.
Further, we cannot make them understand Western values. It is like dressing monkeys in tuxedos. We cannot be mad if at the first chance they rip the clothes off. We worry about the rule of law, evidence, right and wrong and justice.
They just kill the offending person, and possibly his family, saying it was Allah’s will.
You can’t beat it, you can only contain it and hope over time it consumes itself.

Anyone interested should read Dawn Like Thunder, The Barbary Wars and the Birth of the U.S. Navy by Glenn Tucker. It is usually available on Amazon for a few bucks. The book provides a lot of insight into the Muslim mentality (no different then than now) and to the bravery and resourcefulllness of our navel forces at the time. It makes me wonder what our armed forces could accomplish today if they operated out of the reach of their political masters and were focused on an honorable result as in days gone by.
