Police suspect Radcliffe F. Haughton in a shooting spree today that left three people dead and one injured. Court documents show that a restraining order was filed against Mr. Radcliffe this month. (NY Times)
Suspected shooter Radcliffe F. Haughton tried to kidnap one of his victims after shooting her in the hip.

The gunman at the Azana Spa & Salon attempted to take a receptionist hostage after shooting her in the leg, friends of the woman said after visiting her Sunday afternoon at Froedtert Hospital.
The shooter, identified as Radcliffe F. Haughton, came into the salon and went past the receptionist, who heard shooting a short time later, said Doug Epker of East Troy, who visited the woman at the emergency room where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.
“She said the gunman came in and she hid for a little bit but he wasn’t looking for her, he passed her up,” Epker said in an interview. “And she came back out of hiding and that’s when she got shot.”
After the woman was wounded, the shooter “tried dragging her upstairs, but her hip, where she was shot, it broke her bone and she couldn’t walk, luckily, otherwise she might not be alive,” Epker said.
The woman “said the guy dropped his clip. She said it was definitely a pistol,” he said.
Wounded, the woman managed to escape. “Somehow she found an open door, she got out and rolled down the hill,” Epker said.
He said the woman, who is in her early 20s, was from East Troy, as was his son, Kyle, 22.
The woman was on the phone with Kyle just before she was wounded. “She said I gotta go, and she got shot right then.”
UPDATE: Rachel found that Haughton has a record of domestic abuse.
UPDATE: Shooter Haughton was found dead by police.

Not sure what you mean by “these guys”, but I think it’s good for the media to use full names / middle initials in stories like this. It would suck if there was another Radcliffe Haughton out there (unlikely in this case, but more likely when the names are more common).

On a side note — it’s come to this: The local news station and the police refused to refer to the suspect as ‘Black’ or ‘African American’ — opting instead to refer to the suspect in their ‘be on the look-out’ description while he was still considered an active shooter and was still on the loose in the community — as “ethnic: with dark skin“.

You know — he may not even be black — but he sure looks black. And if you have a guy with a gun who’s shooting anyone and everyone in his path from the get-go and he’s on the loose in the community and you want people to be on the look-out for the subject so they don’t die and/or can report the suspect’s location — if he looks black then you state in the description that he’s black — not ethnic: with dark skin. You can always correct yourself later ffs!
