City Honors Black Panthers For Infusing Pride Into Community

Winston Salem will honor the revolutionary socialist Black Panther Party for its work feeding poor children and infusing a spirit of black pride into the community. The leaders of the organization in the 1960’s and 1970’s espoused socialist and Marxist doctrines.

The Black Panthers released this film OFF THE PIG created by the SAN FRANCISCO branch.

The anti-police film was used as a recruiting tool.

Now the Black Panthers are being honored with a historic marker.

Winston Salem Journal

Born out of the tumult of the 1960s, the Black Panther Party is usually portrayed as a militant organization with radical political views.

But there’s another side to the story of the Black Panthers, one that involved feeding breakfast to poor children, operating an ambulance service for people in neglected areas, screening people for sickle-cell anemia and infusing a spirit of black pride within their communities.

That version of the Black Panther story will be recognized today when city officials unveil a historic marker for the Winston-Salem chapter of the Black Panther Party at the northeast corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Fifth Street, near the group’s former headquarters.

The Winston-Salem chapter, organized in 1969, was the first to be formed in the Southeast.

Nelson Malloy, an early member of the party who later became member of the Winston-Salem City Council, said he never imaged the Panthers would be recognized in such an official capacity.

“But we are, in fact, part of the city’s history,” he said.

Mark Maxwell is the chairman of the city’s 12-member Historic Resources Commission that selects historic markers.

Most members of the commission were familiar with the violent past of the national Panther Party, Maxwell said.

Can’t the KKK claim all of that and more?

I’m pretty sure I’ve read where the Palestine terrorist groups claim to do the same thing.

Finally, the TRUTH of how the lunatic-left’s favorite form of discrimination, AFFIRAMTIVE ACTION SPECIAL TREATMENT / RACIST RACIAL QUOTAS, have hurst the lives of those given this privilege, as well and the schools and society that must cope with its harmful results…

“Mismatch: How Affirmative Action Hurts Students It’s Intended to Help, and Why Universities Won’t Admit It,” October 2012, by Richard Sander and Stuart Taylor Jr.

The authors cut through the lies and BS that the lunatic-left has been saying for decades and use documented facts and case studies to show the horrific consequences of this ill-conceived, immoral form of discrimination. The common result of affirmative action discrimination is a “mismatch” between the privileged situation that it grants to minorities and their ability to fulfill the normal expectations of that situation. Although the authors do not use him as an example, OBOZO is certainly the poster-boy for the ill effects that bad consequences that affirmative action special treatment can have. Had OBOZO not had the privileges afforded by this discrimination against other, more academically qualified people, he might well had gone into a career that was a better match to his actual skills and abilities (like golf caddy, sanitation worker, Planned Parenthood abortion assistant, etc.) and would have been successful, instead of being a compete and total failure as THE WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY, which has resulted in pain and suffering to millions of Americans an even the deaths of at least five Americans.

    Amazing Coincidences or Outright Conspiracy

[In the four years I have been gathering information about — and
evidence against — Barack Hussein Obama, I have encountered
hundreds of coincidences that strike me as amazing. None of those
coincidences, by themselves, may mean much. But taken as a whole
it is almost impossible to believe they were all the result of chance.
    — Don Fredrick, author of The Obama Timeline

    The Obama Timeline

[EoV Note: If you read only one thing before the November 6 general
election, make it this mosaic by Don Fredrick (or still better, his book)
entitled, The Obama Timeline. We rarely say this, but it is an absolute
‘must read.’ Especially for those that voted for Barack Obama because
we wanted to be a part of history. Yes, history was made alright. Yet
now it is time to alter its course and make amends. Please share this

Just when you think things can’t be turned upside anymore in this country, something likes this
Happens and you just think: will this nonsense ever end?

  • Just about every Arab terrorist group does the same or more community service activities that they claim the Black Panthers did.

I guess we should honor them like the Senator from Washington did one year.

And when the Black Panthers were standing out front of Philly’s polling area last election, with night sticks in hand, they were there only to share food and comfort to those whom they encountered…

The city of Winston-Salem should be so proud. It will be Detroit in 20 years. A once great city with companies like RJ Reynolds, Krispi Kreme, Sarah Lee, Hanes, Piedmont Airlines, Wachovia Bank all founded there. Most are gone now our dying. The east side of town is an urban ghetto, a place you don’t want to be after dark. The kids from the east side are bussed to the west side so now all the elementary, middle and high schools are in decline. Look it up, Forsyth County Schools, the test scores are there. Areas where Blacks used to live like Waughtown were taken over by Mexican immigrants are now thriving. Streets are clean, businesses are opening. But heh, let’s celebrate the Black Panthers, they have done so much for the community. I live in Winston for many years and would never again. Blacks there are so aggressively racist. Good luck when your tax base moves away.

  • gman

I blame the government for the Winaton-Salem’s decline.

    The subprimers always exceed expectations.

Because the standards are so low.

  • Question is, how long will it take before that Black Panther monument to black racist militant revolution is “desecrated” so the City Hall Moonbats can trot out their already prepared progressive race-card in the media?

these clueless idiots will never win the day…

  • mg4us

Forget about our children applying to Wake Forest . . . Will not support a town that honors criminals and hoodlums.

  • Patty

Well, it is odd to even use the name, Black Panthers, also odd that if there are good people in the communities doing great things, they all should be recognized no matter what race, color or greed they are,

I realized now, that angry blacks got together and decided it is time the take from America, what is theirs. WHAT IS THAT EXACTLY IN OUR WORLD TODAY. Apparently, this is the reason for the murders, robberies that are rising in cities like Chicago and others in the United States. And it is because of the Black Panthers, the bad ones, that the kids haven’t a chance if they are being indoctrinated to believe such hate and that this hate is being placed on whom? exactly.

You and me, innocent victims of their rage. It is obvious to me that the Police have a battle that can’t be won if the Racist Black Party continue down a path that will only end up in more arrest and more innocent people getting hurt. This is a vicious cycle that must be changed and education seems to be the only outlet for the future of these children.

  • Patty

Personally, this sound a lot like Ayers and his love for cop killers. Actually, he had a picture of a thug, known cop killer in his office. Ayers was honoring him. Now, if these people wish to break our laws, I would say straight up, lock them up and the box them up and ship them to another country.

If they find it so tough to be here, then PLEASE LEAVE AMERICA, we are better off without you.

  • Patty

    then box them up, correction.

And we all know how Holder feels about the Black Panther Party, could careless and they were intimidating voters at voting places.

I better not see them where we live. I will not confront but will make it known publicly that they were there. This is America, their tactics and threats have no place in America, no matter what Holder says, WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THREATS AT VOTING PLACES OR ANYWHERE ELSE.

It’s quite apparent that most people posting here are either ignorant or in denial of the manner black folks were treated in the country up to and including the 1960’s. The Black Panther Party was a defensive organization. Formed to defend the community from the murderous police force who were enabled by a racist society to keep black folks “in their place”. If you only recall the “violent” acts they committed without taking great notice of the violence perpetrated against the black community, you are considered myopic at best. But it’s quite apparent ignorance and racism has a stronghold on many US citizens. Thus objectivity is lost, just the repetition of slanted news stories and rejection of any truth that doesn’t follow the same meme. Proving that the “Liberal MSM” doesn’t have a monopoly on biased reporting.

[In 2006, then Senator Barack Obama called such intimidation tactics
“deplorable,” citing similar intimidation of Native American voters. Your
inexplicable dismissal of the civil case and the failure to file a criminal
prosecution flies in the face of the president’s stand on voting rights
and sullies the good name of your department. It calls into question
your commitment to protecting all voters and guaranteeing that they
can exercise their franchise freely without fear.

The American people and this Congress deserve a full

#35 Zaire67: For myself, I went to see just what the Black Panther party stands for today and discovered their 10 point list of demands, which basically amounts to, “We’re victims, we demand free everything (food, housing, land, healthcare, etc., etc., etc.) and no jail and complete control of their environment.

Not exactly a view that will allow for a peaceful environment. It’s more likely to incite anger and REPRESSION for the very people they purport to help.

  • Rose

There are political differences that should be tolerated – but this is not one of them. I don’t have ANY NEED – least of all on a CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS to share this nation with such ANARCHISTS that DESTROY THE LEGITIMATE AIMS of the USA Constitution and of USA Community and social structures designed to help human beings work together and thrive and encourage eachother and build sustainable and HELPFUL structures.

NOT of the Black Panthers, NOT of the Winston Salem council that did this. That is NOT AMERICA. That is Death and Destruction and EVIL and Stalinist.

lovely. Imagine if a bunch of KKK dudes did something like that in honor of George Wallace!

YOU ARE DEAD WRONG and MILK deplored what you are calling good. It is EVIL and it has its sole basis in the desire of DEMOCRATS to regain control of their SLAVES, and NOTHING ELSE – CERTAINLY NOT in the “originating hatred of Republicans for minorities”. Even Segregation grew out of Democrat KKK – NOT REPUBLICANS. You need to study REAL HISTORY and not cheap MARXIST-BASED REVISIONISM.

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection. . . .

Zaire 50 years ago the BlackPanthers may have deserved a statute, but in this day they are racists. Do you dispute that?

This is just plain ignorant. When Mayor Allen Joins was questioned about the monument he said that the council is not associated with the historical commission. That may be true but the crowd was full of them during the unveiling. FBI director J. Edgar Hoover called the Black Panthers the biggest threat to national security at that time. Unbelievable Winston Salem. I will not spend a dime in that city if I can help it
